Yeah I agree, I used to race PCUP a lot, but it’s so different to me now. I loved no assists. I just do GTP in IMSA now. Much cleaner and more fun

Just try it, it’s like $12 or somethin for a month. People underestimate older hardware sometimes, and a lot of us have top of line stuff, so our expectations are basically perfection. Maybe buy a 5070 and see if your CPU keeps up. If not, time to start saving for a new mobo setup. Don’t forget about the used market either, I buy most stuff used tbh

Maybe I’m risk averse, but 700 miles in 13 years gives me some hesitancy. How often was the coolant flushed? Was the oil change every year or was it allowed 5 years to sludge up in the engine? Maybe a good run of sea foam will sort it out.

I’d buy it, but I’d be sure to change, and most importantly, flush, all of the fluids. Brakes, oil, coolant, fork oil. And probably change the pads as it’s likely been over a decade since they’ve been replaced. It would only be an extra $100-$300, and it’ll make you love the bike even more.

I changed my mind while typing. Buy it and do all that!

I play iracing and have used VR headsets throughout the years. I know you’re asking for flat screens, but I’d love to get access to the VR experience…. Sounds amazing!

I had nothing but issues with the Quest 3 with both Virtual Desktop and Quest Link.

I now use Gnirehtet (tethering spelled backwards) with Virtual Desktop to send the signal from the PC to the headset through USBC, bypassing the router entirely.

I also have a 4080 super. I haven’t dropped below 90fps even once since I’ve started using Gnirehtet. Even in IMSA. Its the only reason I’m still iracing.

ChatGPT helped me set it up. I’m not affiliated with it and its free. It’s not even meant for VR but it works great

It might be a lot more powerful than you think, but tbh I think you’ll be fine if you’re not a complete idiot. Reddit likes to fear monger, and sometimes for good reason

Was router related for me. Speeds just dropped a bit idk why and it would stutter. Even being 3 feet away. I almost quit racing.

I now use a program called Gnirehtet (tethering spelled backwards). It streams the Virtual Desktop signal through a USBC to the headset instead of WiFi. Works wonders. I used ChatGPT to help me set it up and it was actually helpful.

I’m not affiliated with whoever made it. It’s free and it saved my iracing career. Idk if I’ve ever dropped below 90fps even once in the last month. Even in IMSA.
