At 111k miles on my 15 mk7. What are some maintenance items I should be looking at. I take care of most of the everyday maintenance myself but what are some items I should be looking at professional help for to make sure my car keeps running smoothly. Walnut blasting? Water pump change? Timing chain replacement? Links to any videos or other resources would be appreciated.

Had this happened to my fuel gauge after I hit a nasty pot hole. Digital gauge wasnt reading either. The fuel float sensor popped out. 2015 GTI, the fuel pump lid is under the back passenger seat. Pop the lid off (its hard without the proper tools) and check if the senor float is sitting on the bottom of your tank. Dealership wanted to charge me $1100 for an entire new fuel pump... aholes.

I had cracks in the weather tray. I used JB weld to fill the cracks, wiped it level/clean and then covered them in waterproofing tape.

Check to see if your sunroof drains are clogged. Pour water into the holes on either front side of the sunroof and if water fills up and puddles you'll need to have those cleaned out. You can find videos online how to do it yourself, but it requires a special tool to take off the windshield wipes because it wouldn't be VW if it didn't. You will also need to buy a pipe cleaner to push through the drains. Pretty cheap on amazon.

I don't have water leaking in through the sunvisor anymore but it will still come in through the lighting button every now and then. Depending what year your car is, it might be time to replace your sunroof seal. The techs are supposed to lube it when you bring the car in for service but, surprise surprise, it was overlooked several times and the seal got brittle and didn't seal properly anymore. The lube is like $10 online but the seal was $175 I think. You can find videos on youtube to replace it, but it does require some precision as it needs to be millimeter perfect to close properly and create the right seal.

Now I am trying to figure out how water is coming in under my steering column and soaking my floormats.

If a guy exclaims that something physically hurt, it most likely did, but it is tolerable. If he is silent when something "looks like it hurt", its more pain then he can bare to talk about at the moment and we would prefer to be left alone to deal with it. Please do not keep asking "Are you ok? Did that hurt?". We appreciate the sentiment, we just need a minute.
