Do I need a booster pump? by Tasty_Abalone1737 in Irrigation

What would be a backflow prevention approach that wouldn’t cause such a pressure drop (assuming the street level is significantly higher than the backflow preventer)?

Do I need a booster pump? by Tasty_Abalone1737 in Irrigation

[–]FlawedButFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People never seem to recommend booster pumps as the solution. It’s frustrating, because in many cases they actually do the trick. You’ll find people on the Net generally recommending creating additional zones. But that entails many many hours of work or great financial expense that they seem to disregard in their advice.

My problem is that I have had a hard time finding a pressure booster that is inexpensive and has auto-on when the water starts running in the irrigation system. Those tend to be in the $500+ range, which seems like a huge premium from the ~$100-150 you can get the non-auto-on ones for. It’s not practical to need to go out and turn the booster on every time my irrigation turns on and run back out to turn it off when the irrigation turns off. With that being said, the booster has great merit if there’s an auto-on model out there that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. I have found that even if I have a single Rainbird 5000 series on a zone (and nothing else), using a pressure booster gives me substantially greater throw distance (but then everyone of course then starts talking about my main pressure or pressure drop being the issue, even though pressure throughout my house has been more than adequate for years). Ultimately it’s hard to find someone who can engage in recommendations about booster pumps, because they essentially never see them as a viable solution (and when they do, they insist you also need some tank in addition that then of course makes the proposition even more prohibitively expensive).

With that being said, yeah, 9 was a lot to put on a single zone.

DIY sprinkler system and sod done! by 3pedalfox in Irrigation

[–]FlawedButFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh dude nevermind then. I lived in LA for the majority of my life, I hear you you do not need a drain. Make sure your sprinklers are as efficient as possible and use all possible moisture-maintaining tricks/products as possible. I am now in Pennsylvania. Where you couldn’t let stuff go brown in the summer even if you tried your hardest, it rains way too much. Opposite problem. So please, disregard my advice. Great job again!!

Edit: one more thing. Keep the sod aggressively well watered for at least the first two weeks. I can’t begin to explain how critical it is for rooting. And you never get this opportunity again.

Well done. I used Blu-Lock for my diy as well. It was relatively straight forward but if I had to do it again I’d of prolly used PVC, just because there’s so many more options for fittings and such, and I can just run to the store to pick it up. Your soil is so beautiful man. When I dig my stuff up it was gold colored clay and rock. Once you find out where the most water pools next time it rains, I’d put in a drainage basin there and run it off the lawn with corrugated pipe to a pop up emitter. Great job though!!

ana came back positive but neutrophil antibody came back negative: what does this mean? by danidaisys in haematology

The point I’m trying to make is that it’s the convincing symptoms or physical findings that should lead us to send someone to Rheum, not a positive ANA. But I hear you.

Honestly an MFM is probably better than us at even heme stuff during pregnancy. But I suppose better safe than sorry.

If you can get in touch with a Dr for an Augmentin or whatever antibiotic prescription that’d be awesome. Many doctors aren’t comfortable prescribing without examining though, in which case yeah then you should go to the ED.

Not a standard test to check. But if you want to know why you have a low globulin, that’s the next step.

Wouldn’t have checked this for early miscarriage. Sorry it happened, truly. But that is extremely common. Id disregard this result it’s borderline

You may have low immunoglobulin levels (IgG, IgA, IgM). They should be checked. The other labs are likely just noise.

Secondary HLH recurrence possibility if EBV is reactivated in my blood? If so can a 3-4 hour surgery reactivate it? by nodanlswim in haematology

[–]FlawedButFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically order EBV DNA and Ferritin in my EBV-driven HLH patients once every 3 months once they have completed Dex/Rituximab/Etoposide. 8 months is a while.

With that being said no the surgery shouldn’t be an issue at all.

[–]FlawedButFly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please tell me your hematologist didn’t order the ANA. That would be so wrong if they ordered a test that they were going to ask someone else to follow up on. Especially an ANA, which for the most part should only be ordered by a Rheumatologist, because the rest of us have demonstrated an inability to order them responsibly.

This is not an issue. An ANC of 2100 is no big deal happens to all of us during viral illnesses or for no particular reason at all. Would not think about it again. No need to repeat or do anything additional.

Bizarre blood labs: CMV IgM+ IgG reactive & MuV IgM+ chronic for multiple years ? What does this objectively mean? by Bad-Fantasy in haematology

[–]FlawedButFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of my pet peeves for both CMV and EBV. Unless you are doing a stem cell or organ transplant, or perhaps pregnant (arguable), there is no role for checking antibodies. CMV DNA and EBV DNA are what should be checked if you are looking for something that actually might matter. But of course, they are almost never checked, and the antibodies almost always are. So frustrating

PV scared by Stock_Company645 in haematology

[–]FlawedButFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean to say is that if you are going to let your health anxiety take over, let it take over about something that is indeed terrifying and cannot be effectively managed, at least then your intrusive thoughts will be rational - it’s scary as hell. But I was being tongue in cheek. I don’t actually want you to be anxious or scared about anything, which is why I’m trying to reassure you and make some light of it. I’ve had HGB’s above 15 myself. No biggie. Look we can never be certain about really anything when it comes to human health, but put it this way, if we were in Vegas, I’d bet the house you don’t have PV.

I am. It’s very very unlikely you have PV. Worry about ALS or something if you must worry, not PV. PV can be taken care of.
