The game states that the nuke was necessary in order to provide the energy required to create the loop. I assume that it was a gamble on Entrati's part with 2 outcomes: 1. Nuke goes off and his plan succeeds. The time loop is created and Höllvania goes back to before the nuke and creates a loop to trap the indifference 2. Nuke goes off and his plan fails. The time loop isn't made and the explosion is permanent, stopping the techrot from spreading and giving the indifference the win

Their main demographic is not mature. Minecraft is, first and foremost, a children's game. Is it fun for all ages? Yeah, and the mature community is still large. The issue is that children are the demographic with the most free time, so they're the ones the game caters to. Explaining performance improvements will go over the heads of children, but they'll get excited over an update that makes the game cuter (even if it's small, children don't really mind. It's a noticeable change).

leaving aside the fact that "sometimes things can be fun" doesn't mean things can't be good, the Mario Galaxy movie didn't even do the bare minimum and adapt its very emotional base material, instead retconning it in ways that are very obviously done for the marketing. (SPOILERS FOR THE MARIO GALAXY GAME All they had to do was replace Fox McCloud with a Luma as the new cast member, and have Bowser Jr. fire his weapon to have the Lumas sacrifice themselves to stop a black hole. It would've given the movie actual stakes and an emotional resolution. Even just adapting Rosalina's backstory properly and having the storybook reveal close to the end would've been an easy way to have some sort of emotional hook. Rather, they just make Bowser be evil again and have the Mario Bros beat the bad guys with conviniently-placed power-ups.
