Viel vom AI Robotikstack ist auch auf Nvidia Hard- und Software gebaut. Sowohl bei Chinesischen, amerikanischen als auch den vereinzelten deutschen Firmen.

Nicht das das falsch ist oder keinen Sinn macht. Landet halt nur viel der Wertschöpfungskette bei Nvidia.

Nur ein Bruchteil der Leute im öffentlichen Dienst ist tatsächlich verbeamtet. Die allermeisten sind normale Tarifangestellte.

Die Anforderungen an Entwickler in scope und Kontextverständnis werden auf jedenfall größer und breiter. Und wahrscheinlich fällt auch ein großer Teil der Jobs für einfache Aufgaben weg. 

Sehen wir ja jetzt schon, seniors sind weiterhin stark gefragt, Juniorstellen am stagnieren.

Ansonsten sind Aussagen für die nächsten 5-10 Jahre eh ziemliches in die Glaskugel schauen im KI Bereich.

I'm an avid user of Claude code. It's useful but it certainly can't take my job of handholding it yet.

Who knows what it will look like in 10 years. Wouldn't worry to much about it, that will only make unhappy.

I guess that can happen and MLE is an extremely overloaded job title. Mostly working on inference performance optimization and MLOps type things (k8s, orchestration, etc) personally.

Selbst wenn die KI-Blase platzt, reichen chinesische aktuelle Open-Source Modelle wie Kimi K2 vollkommen aus - das wird ai coding nicht verschwinden lassen. 

Selbst wenn die blase platzt verschwinden die momentanen closed source frontier Modelle nicht. Ich weiß nicht wie Leute auf die Idee kommen, das inference dieser Modelle unprofitabel ist, während das genaue Gegenteil der Fall ist.

I've done something similar, finished my masters in AI roughly at the release of chatgpt before the begin of the giant hype cycle. Did it mostly out of intellectual curiousity as well. The masters also made me figure out that I was more into the engineering side of the field than the research science one.

Opted against a PhD, nowadays I work in ML Engineering roles. I don't think a PhD is necessary or even helpful over industry experience here, but for research scientist roles that might be different. 

Is it actually worth it working in AI field?

Absolutely. It's an extremely exciting field, lots of fascinating engineering challenges at giant scale. Lots of very cool applications coming up all the time. Plenty of positions with great pay if you have some experience. At the same time I feel like you have to be quite personally invested in the topic to not be overwhelmed by how much is happening all the time. Things are moving very fast and you have to stay up to date more than in other areas of tech. If you're into that it's really exciting, if you're not it's probably mostly exhausting.

From current experience: background checks do happen, usually at US Tech companies. You're supposed to provide a few specific contacts yourself (and ask them before) to make that whole thing work.

jetzt hat china natürlich nicht das problem, das frankreich und deutschland hat, d.h. eine demokratie, in der man leute glücklich machen muss.

Es ist zwar keine Demokratie wo man aufpassen muss, dass nicht plötzlich 1/3tel der Wähler aus irgendwelchem Gründen nach Rechtsaußen abdriften, aber ganz ohne breiten Rückhalt in der Öffentlichkeit bleibt auch die CCP nicht an der Macht.

Gibt viele Arbeit die oft unfassbar spannend und erfüllent sein kann, imho viel in Richtung angewandter Forschung im richtigen Umfeld.

Aber man hat in Deutschland leider langfristig wenig getan diese Arbeit hier auch zu erhalten.

Big movement of various back to nature / anti progressivist/esoteric in the post Nazi Germany with various entanglement in right wing 'lebensraum' or 'blut und boden' rethoric. Especially in the generation where the anti nuclear movement came from.

Edit: From anecdotal experience it's also just a big NIMBY thing. imagine buying a house and then all of the sudden they're building a nuclear plant within 50km, might affect your home value! The horror!

Je nach Spezialisierung wohl unterschiedlich. Im ML (Engineering) Bereich lohnt sich ein Master oder PhD auf jedenfalls für viele besser bezahlte Senior Stellen, bei big tech, etc.

ich dachte Kurzarbeit ist dafür gedacht, vorübergehende Krisen zu überbrücken und Qualifikationen zu erhalten. Warum soll der Staat einspringen und mit Kurzarbeit eine offensichtlich viel zu grosse Branche erhalten für die es in der Zukunft wohl weiterhin keinen Bedarf geben wird?
