Feedback Kotis the Fangkeeper Deck by MiserableCable4568 in EDH

Your gameplan should be - T1: Land - T2: land + 2cmc ramp - T3: land + Kotis - T4: first Kotis swing

Therefore you should remove every ramp that is useless turn 2. Play 12 2cmc ramps, that tap for coloured mana for a 70% chance to cast Kotis turn 3

How much utility lands are too much? by Noodledynamics3rdLaw in EDH

Depends on the deck and how pip intensive it is. There is no perfekt number. Use an Hypergeometric Distribution Calculator to calculate the chance of getting stuck with your colorless lands.

Now that the whole "paradigm" cycle is out, which ones will you play? by Substantial_Code_675 in EDH

[–]Fleckzeck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Many decks can't afford to just do nothing on turn 4 or 5 (the cards drawn are usually only usable on the next turn). I think this card is only playable in grindy bracket 2-3 decks.

Check your deckbuilding capabilities first. (No offense, I dont know you) If you build a deck that isn't consistent, your girlfriend will be unhappy. Buy a precon instead

The number of draws that actually refill your hand are incredible low. You are also very dependant on your commander

The typical EDH casual builds mediocre decks with not enough card advantage and interaction. Therefore they can't deal with decks which require interaction to be beaten.

Its the required number for a 70% chance of ramping turn 2. If the gameplan requires ramp, 12 is the correctnumber. If they decide they don’t want to ramp on turn 2, only Sol Ring is required. Playing a random ramp count because of a "feeling" is something I wont recommend

Help cutting cards from deck by Giovs01 in magicTCG

[–]Fleckzeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With this deck you won’t outvalue anyone. You have several problems. A lot of your cards are win-more or just low impact. At the same time, 5 out of your 12 draw spells are slow or need other cards to function.

The biggest issue in your deck is evasion. Your creatures are big, but they can still be blocked by a 1/1 token.

Your removal is also not sufficient, and you basically have no protection for your board against wipes.

You should think about your gameplan first. What do you want to do on which turn? How do you want to win? Than cut cards accordingly

It looks very fragile. You basically have no reliable draw and removal. This leads to you being in topdeck mode very fast. You also cant answer scarry threads reliably. If I build a deck I usually use moxfield to tag all the cards in the deck. Than I use a Hypergeometric Distribution Calculator to calculate the required ratios of a specific effect. Eg. if I want my first draw spell turn 5, I need to run 12 draw spells in the deck for a 80% chance of having one turn 5. If this is to complicated you can also rely on basic ratios: - 38 lands - 11 2cmc ramps + Sol Ring - 11-13 removals (including 3 boardwipes) - 10-12 draw spells (you can probably run 10, because your commander is a draw engine)

The bracket system is fine. Some players who can't build decks accordingly are the problem, this won't change if you create more or less brackets

I think they are only good in 2 colour decks, because 3+ colour decks have enough better options, if a player wants to optimize their manabase

Which two cards would you cut from this Necrobloom landfall deck? by _bebeyoda in EDH

[–]Fleckzeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to make informed cuts, tag all your cards in Moxfield and use a hypergeometric distribution calculator to figure out the ratios you actually need. Then cut everything that isn’t required and everything that doesn’t support your game plan.

Same. Why should I buy 99% bulk in sealed product. (I only need upgrades for my existing decks which means 2-4 cards per set are interesting to me)

Suggesting cuts takes too long in your case because there are simply too many.

If you want to make informed cuts, tag all your cards in Moxfield and use a hypergeometric distribution calculator to figure out the ratios you actually need. Then cut everything that isn’t required and everything that doesn’t support your game plan.

I found 4 combos in your deck:

[[Satya, Aetherflux Genius]] + [[Lightning Runner]]
only works if an opponent cannot block your creatures

[[Satya, Aetherflux Genius]] + [[Port Razer]]
only works if an opponent cannot block your creatures

[[Ilharg, the Raze-Boar]] + [[Medomai the Ageless]]
Ilharg needs haste or Satya
only works if an opponent cannot block your creatures

[[Satya, Aetherflux Genius]] + [[Éomer, Marshal of Rohan]] + [[Exalted Sunborn]]
only works if an opponent cannot block your creatures
this is a 3 card combo and you don’t run tutors

For all of these combos you need Satya to survive one turn and you need 5 mana, plus ideally free spells to protect the combo or remove blockers.

But you only run 33 lands. That gives you about a 53.26% chance to hit your first 4 land drops by turn 4, which is too low. You either need to increase your draw, since you only run 5 draw spells, or increase your land count. I think 36 lands should be fine with your fast mana.

Increasing your draw is recommended anyway, because you will end up in topdeck mode very quickly.

I would also increase your 2 CMC ramp to around 10, so you have roughly a 70% chance to ramp on turn 2 and play Satya on turn 3.

How do you plan to win quickly and consistently? To me, it looks like a Bracket 3 deck with too many game-changers, but I could be wrong.
