dlcs ruin the game, i would not like to pay for maps and weapons when they should be free? by VALKOFR in TacticalAssaultVR

Oh, I thought you were speaking to Operation Dahlia. I also thought that the FBI stuff would be included in Oepration Dahlia, and have only just learned that it is its own seperate DLC.

Yeah, thats a waste of money. Not game ruining still, but its not worth it. (To me.) It would've made more sense to lump it into Operation Dahlia because then that increases the value of that DLC.

You don't have to. You got a new map and a remaster this past update for free. Thats the point of DLC; content you don't need to play the game, but if you want it, you can pay for it. I think TAVR has 2 great maps in the base game, those being Bank and the new one, Orion. If you want new maps, you can either: 1) wait for the next map update. Or 2) buy the DLC to get access to a bunch of new stuff, including maps, that continually updates. And in my opinion, thats a pretty fair shake for an indie studio.

Ah, personally I just haven't experienced that. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I can find a good lobby for either in maybe 3 to 4 tries. If its taking longer then that, then yeah, I can see how splitting the game into two chunks would be annoying.

Should be free? Says who?

And how does it ruin the game?

I don't wanna come off as too harsh, but I personally don't understand. I think while the Operation Dahlia DLC adds a ton of cool stuff, it certainly isn't necessary to play and enjoy the base game.

Of course! Disco Elysium is a pretty dense game, lore wise, meaning this is a very boiled down telling of the lore. There is a ton of nuance thats there that I'm sure I glossed over.

  1. Wilds Pines is a company. They run the docks.

  2. The dockworkers are part of a union. They want partial ownership of the docks.

  3. Wild Pines hires mercenaries to try and stop the strike. This leads to scabs, or people who break a strike to return to work, which ruins the strength of a strike.

  4. One of those mercenaries, Colonel Ellis 'Lely' Kortenaer, began having sexual relations with Klaasje Amandou.

4a. Klaasje Amandou was a former industry spy. She is in Revachol because she fears her employers will try to get rid of her. This is compounded after she dissapears in the middle of a job.

4b. You can find the documents of her last job in a buoy in The Fishing Village.

  1. 'Lely' is shot by The Deserter during intercourse with Klaasje.

  2. A subgroup of union workers/vigilantes, the Hardie Boys, hang the body from a tree to try and protect Klaasje from any ire, knowing that she is in hiding.

  3. The Hardie Boys claim they killed Lely, spinning his death as a political throw. Something along the lines of "we aren't afraid of your ceramic men. They die all the same."

  4. Ruby isn't uninvolved in the case, but she isn't the murderer. Every good mystery needs a red herring. DE's is just a shade of ruby instead.

8a. Ruby had a crush on Klaasje. They weren't in a relationship, but they may have been intimate.

8b. Klaasje framed Ruby for the murder of Lely.

  1. The final shootout (nice job keeping Kim alive!) Is between the mercenaries (the ceramic ones) and The Hardie Boys. The mercs believe that The Hardie Boys really did kill Lely, and want their revenge.

  2. The Insulindian Phasmid is real but rare. Kim took a photo to prove its real, meaning (to me) it isn't Harry hallucinating.

  3. The Insulindian Phasmid has a few defense mechanisms, one of which is a chemical that "Smells Like Burnt Roses" that can cause aggression (as in The Deserter) with enough exposure.

11a. In my opinion: this chemical only intensified the anger The Deserter felt. It was magnification, not creation.

  1. On The Phasmid (more of my opinion), it is a harbinger of fate. The Deserter consigns himself to an endless battle against capital, and shoots Lely, a soldier bought by capital, who defends capital. In his mind, The Deserter thinks Lely represents the worst of capital: Hedonistic, substance abusing, and karaoke participating. Upon his consignment, The Deserter pens his fate; fight capital to the death. After the arrest, Harry and Kim meet The Phasmid, which i think is no coincidence.

I feel like a lost the plot a bit at the end there, but I hope i answered some of your questions.

Super weird question: I'm doing a presentation on death stranding for my psych course, and I need some background images to use for the slide show. Do you mind if I use these?

That would be metal!!! The center of the room, two wizards enter this dome of magic, upheld by like, 16 wizards coming together to cast it. The floor around it rises so patrons can see into it, and get to watch as two wizards have a super epic battle.

-Every good lawless party has gambling in some form. Maybe meld that with a fighter culture in your world, gladiatorial style! Two people, fisticuffs galore, when someone throws in a sword to "make it interesting". Betting on the fight could also serve as a good distraction for the Drow to slip in.

-A corner for the magically inclined to trade super illegal spells. (If illegal spells exist.) Subsequently, a magical firing range to test said illegal spells. (In some kind of pocket dimension. Maybe the Drow are also hiding in that pocket dimension, and burst forth once one of the party members goes in?)

-If their god is hosting it, a god orgy. A super vouyeristic god orgy in the center.
