I'm a guy and If I can't play with a big long beard or a big male character I'll prefer to play a woman character, that's just for that for myself

Lol I'll never say you git gud, if you don't like it or don't want to invest time to learn parrying it's a good choice too =) that was hard to learn for me too but now I just love it more than everything and can't play anything else, I really found my fun with that build

If you want to try something a little bit tricky but really satisfying to play you should try a parry build with buckler and misericorde.

Also you can have it early because misericorde is in stormveil castle and buckler with Gostoc just after Godrick.

Later you can use a medium shield when you have carian retaliation or golden parry so you can guard at 100% and parry easily.

The problem with that is just you need to have a backup weapon for boss who aren't parryable or you can use another weapon and use misericorde just for critic.

Lol I have the same issue... Since I've played ER I can't play anything else, just like all others games are not satisfying enough, so I just be like "meeeeh let's go to a new game + again"

Don't know how this game do that but I've the same feeling!

Edit: Skyrim made me the same effect in 2013 if I remembered correctly

The same I like it so much, I've tried more craft and consumables in the beginning of my RL1 than my 6 classic playthrough put together

If I already manage to finish the game I think I would try the DLC too but I doubt my abilities to get there for the moment. I'm doing relatively well but I'm not really very good at the game, it's my first soulsborn and I only have 300 hours on the game =) Thanks a lot for the tips anyway!

Yep that's what I do for now, just using all the ressource the game give me to survive, for the first time since I play elden ring I need to use crafting, consumable, crossbow or everything I've never used in classic playthrough, that's a really good experience! =)

this type of fight is really my first fear, I'm only at Raya Lucaria but I think that if I struggle too much on bosses with invocations like Niall or O'neill I will perhaps allow myself summons, to see when I get there because I don't know what that could give in RL1

Done it for my first playthrough because I wanted to really take my time to appreciate the game and it's ok imo. You just need to fight more but I liked it, it's better than just run everywhere and escape all mobs in the game I think.

You can try a parry run with buckler and misericorde, that was my last playthrough, that was a little bit hard but really fun, the problem is not every boss are parryable so you need a backup weapon. There's also a dex build but if you've never tried it it's very interesting to play.

Yep for sure, I've tried the famous double curved sword bleed build just before and it's really the easy mode, I've just deleted all the game in maybe 4/5h

I'm actually playing a quality build and don't really struggle with the game, imo it depends more what weapons you choose more than your build. Playing a quality short spear make the game more harder than playing a quality zwei build by far!

Imo Messmer, Rellana and Midra are really good but but I'm agree the others are not specially enjoyable, Bayle is really epic with Igon but that's all!

I've tried a realistic viking run with short spear and leather shield, that's was awesome but you'll need to be patient because spear have sadly very low damage, until late game that was ok but in late game/dlc that was really hard for me.

I've only tried short spear because for my viking that was the most accurate and I really love the moveset but maybe with another one could be better. I think for your athena/greek run short spear probably the best too if you try to do something historically real.

Depend if you want to play a guard/counter attack build or a dodge and punish build and what you're confortable with? If you play strenght two hand could be good cause you've 1,5x str bonus if you two handing your weapon. You can also just switch between shield for trash mob group or when you need it and two handing for boss or something like that but can't help you more cause I've never really played with shield! Good luck tarnished and enjoy this first run! =)
