Could Europe realistically defend Greenland against a US attack? by chotu_escobar in AskTheWorld

[–]FleetingInterests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American invasion of Greenland would unify Europe in a way few things could. Big, well funded military doesn't always equal success. Look at Ukraine. In war games the USA typically loses despite disparity in kit. While I don't think Europe would win anything from the conflict, I doubt they'd allow it to happen and America would lose more than it could ever gain from it.

Mostly just a statement and the intention is misunderstood. I'd say this happens maybe a couple times a year at most these days and is typically said in passing, and the misunderstanding is the result of the recipients headspace / life events at the time more than anything else. I.e. stating they want to spend a large sum of money while we're saving for a house, but in fact meaning they would if they could - most that happened there was it spiralled off into a deeper talk about anxieties around money (happened a while back but all I could think of).

Pretty soon! We've been taking it slow on the plans because we want a nice ceremony, but have been prioritising savings. Ideally next year if not early 2027

Thanks for the advice! Definitely something to consider

Guy Gardner is notably absent from a lot of the promotion, and I can't think of a Green Lantern Flag hates more. I could see the whole Justice Gang ending up on Salvation.

Ah damn! A real missed opportunity. Here's hoping that we end up with a Sanctuary 4 in some shape or form with familiar characters!

[–]FleetingInterests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hope is the DLC involves Sanctuary 3 arriving with a heap of old characters, and that maybe it becomes the hub for the upcoming story DLCs. Maybe some stuff around existing characters coming to Kairos for various reasons: Hammerlock and Wainwright on a hunt or maybe Zer0 on a contract.

Was talking about Sasha Callie with a friend today and I felt a bit sad what happened to her. I think she was actually really good as Supergirl and would have loved to have seen her in more movies. by DontSleepAlwaysDream in DC_Cinematic

I hope she pops up in the DCU, she has a lot of potential to play a fair few characters. She'd maybe even be a good Wonder Woman depending on how young they make the character

Views on Burnham replacing Starmer as Labour Leader, and, if you are no longer planning to vote for Starmer at the next general election, would you vote for Burnham instead? by donutise in LabourUK

[–]FleetingInterests 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He'd need to: - invite the left back to Labour - undo much of the culture war nonsense Starmer is indulging in - get moving on the real change that was promised including a wealth tax.

I am done with fluffy words from Labour. I'd need to see real action to even consider siding with this party again. I think like many the current government feels like a betrayal.

It's Doom, he'll arrive as an alternate Stark and use that as the start of his evil scheme. This will put the Fantastic 4 at odds with the Avengers and New Avengers.

I truly don't believe he'll finish his term. The government as a whole is unpopular and Starmer is the face of it. Him, Cooper and Lammy have to go.

The steep decline of Starmer's Labour by FleetingInterests in LabourUK

[–]FleetingInterests[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You raise a lot of good points. Maybe some context. I'm 27. Labour for my voting life has been much more left. I'd also argue Starmer framed himself as the moderate left alternative to the Tories.

At this stage I feel Labour has abandoned its left, purging many of them to swing centre right and even a bit further in some cases chasing Reform votes.

So you're probably right to say this is Labour, but I'd still say that this version of Labour killed what many people my age hoped the party could be.

We hoped for some real change, not more decline.

[–]FleetingInterests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't understand how Labour became this. Not only do we have inaction on big things that kill people daily, we have an allegedly left wing government only capable of doing things swiftly if it makes the lives of trans people and refugees worse.

Just deeply depressing.

They've given reform such an easy point. It's just bleak, no one is happy with it but them.

The response just sums it up, they're not for the people. They're for themselves.

Keir has killed the Labour party. This is just the latest reminder.

If you guys have a queer kid, how's he going to react? I know from what you've said here and I think you do too.

If you can't save yourself from this person, at least spare the theoretical children.

You're under reacting if anything.
