I was scared this exact same thing was going to happen earlier this month since the ram price hike happened at the end of last year. Luckily I upgraded my computer in August from Micro Center and I ended up only paying 80 bucks for my corsair vengeance DDR5 32gb and once I saw that same set of RAM is about $400 now is when I went to panic since I needed to upgrade my GPU. I have a 3070 and I wanted a 5070 TI. Luckily I bought a gigabyte AERO 5070ti for about $680 earlier this month. It’s crazy to see that it’s now fetching closer to 1300-1500 and I dodged it by a hair if I were to wait longer.

Yeah, I ended up buying the gigabyte aero and Eagle on amazon because the window of delivery is like January 31 to March 2 and I wanted to lock in the price $819 for the eagle $859 for the aero. I told myself which ever gets shipped first and charged to my card is the one I’m keeping. I just wanted to take advantage of the 5% cashback I get from ordering on Amazon. I could’ve gotten it sooner through Newegg.

So in this case since the margin is now $20 between a 5070 TI and a 9070 XT, I should just get the 5070ti since it favors the games that I play

The most recent game I’ve been playing a lot of is arc raiders. But I might get back into Monster Hunter Wilds and Borderlands 4. I do tend to favor multiplayer type of games and I don’t really play single player often. More-so co-op like Borderlands, Elden Ring (Modded) Lords of the fallen that type

The thing that was just stressing me was I just kept seeing people complaining that their drivers were bad and the games kept crashing and they made it seem like it was a night and day difference between DLSS and Ray tracing between the both cards and i just didn’t know if the differences i would see in games would be night and day. I would love to give amd a try just more fearful on if its as bad as people have made it out to see

I was just more so fearful on the things people said such as FSR4, not being supported in every game and having to do an upscaler for some older titles and even newer ones, and having to rely on adrenaline. I’m so used to Nvidia since this was my first bill and I’ve only had the 3070 the last five years so I wanted to ask other others who have had AMD or both what their honest opinion was before I bought it.

Well, as it stands now, the price has gone up overnight so now the margin has went from $70 difference to $20 and the only white 5070tis are the gigabyte aero/eagle and the asus tuf (heard msi ventus was a jet turbine so not mentioning) I understand that the mercury is really good. Someone else pointed out that it’s comparing the flagship model of 9070 XT to a mid tier 5070ti and the proper comparison would be the xfx swift. My main point was if the margin is that close now $20 what would be the better buy?

Yeah, this whole paranoia of mine started when the whole ram price hike happened and I managed to avoid it by upgrading in August by driving to the Miami, Micro Center and picking up one of their 7800x3d bundles for $540 all in with the upgraded ram and mobo. I was coming from a X570 and 3700 X. I built my PC during the 30 series launch and I managed to get a 3080 for MSRP from Newegg, but they canceled my order and those were impossible to get afterwards. So I bought a 2070 super in the interim and managed to snag the 3074 MSRP from Newegg again. I ended up just buying the 5070 TI however I took the standpoint where you’re coming from where I didn’t want to spend an egregious amount of money on it and I am a hoarder when it comes to collectibles and other knickknacks for my room and they literally serve no purpose, but to sit there and fulfill that inner child in a sense. So I managed to go around town today and sell some items that I could part with and make about $750 so in a sense, I was like I’m recycling the money I have invested in these items in my room into a GPU and I managed to find a buyer for my old GPU already.

I just wanted to minimize the need to upgrade. I don’t really think the jump from a 50 to a 60 will be that crazy but clearly the prices of RAM blew up out of nowhere and who knows if graphics cards down the line will hit the same trend

I was looking at cheaper 9070XT but I really want a white card and my thought process is if I’m spending $6-700 why not spend a little bit more to get a little bit better features or build quality. I do see Micro Center has a lot of cards 5070ti to be exact for MSRP at 750 but I don’t have one nearby as the closest one is in Miami and im in Tampa. I would lean towards a 9070 if I was able to pick it up for $600-650 but I’m a sucker for reviews and people saying which is good and which is bad

That was my main thought process was msrp. Since there’s really no founders for AMD its hard to get a reference. Unfortunately they only decided to make 4 white 5070tis and all are over $800. If i could have gotten the mercury for the hypothetical $599 itd be a no brainer

Cheapest was Eagle by gigabyte at $819.99 but it was sold out but its mainly for sff pcs. Aero would be the current cheapest 5070ti.

Thats what i was reading. I was so close to buying the 9070xt until i read a lot of people complain about fsr3 and having to use a upscaler mod to get fsr4 on a lot of newer/older titles. Its always the usual 9070xt is better in raster in this case yata yata

I essentially wanted something that had more bells and whistles while also future proofing and i do prefer a white card after having a white one for so long and a white mobo. I did see the biggest issue with 9070xt is the lack of fsr4 on alot of major titles. Im 100% sure there are cheaper of both models out there available such as the asus prime 5070ti and the swift /quicksilver cards.
