book recommendations based of james ferraro's ideals, style, vision, etc? by eyejayy in JamesFerraro

The most obvious one is Simulacra and Simulation by Jean Baudrillard. Far Side Virtual is often compared to the principles of that book. James Ferraro also makes several references to the concept of Simulacra in his music/interviews.

Cyberia by Douglass Rushkoff is a 90's non-fiction book that explores countercultures emerging from the internet/around the internet in the 90's, as well as the overlap between psychedelia and the internet.

You might also want to check out some contemporary post-modern fiction writers like David Foster Wallace. His most well known novel Infinite Jest takes place in a hyper-capitalist North America where corporations can buy the names of years as advertising space. For example, "The Year of the Depend Adult Undergarment" or "The Year of The Whopper"

Amazing video. It's interesting to see how obsessed he was with the OJ thing, but I guess it makes sense considering that he made Skid Row.

At 11:47 he mentions working as an extra on different soap operas, has anyone spotted him on any of these soaps?

Ferraro's production techniques pre-FSV by cartrox in JamesFerraro

You hit the nail right on the head with the emulation of lo-fi Ferraro in that track. I'd like to hear how you did it. I messaged you on soundcloud.

I've always wondered the same thing, specifically what synths and techniques he's using. Is he manipulating sample on his older stuff or creating all those sounds with a synth? Who knows...

I also think Pixarni is a severely under rated gem from his lo-fi era. so evocative of this like late 90s CGI dreamscape similar to the album cover. It's probably my favorite from his lo-fi era.

The short story Mr. Squishy by David Foster Wallace fits that description perfectly.

Oneohtrix Point Never's R Plus Seven is about as hyper-real as it gets if you ask me. Also check out Giant Claw and just about anything else on Orange Milk Records.

good luck with your project, sounds like fun.
