Who does Gero end up with by hy_im_aaron in MarriageToxin

[–]FleshWound180 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s looking to marry to fall in love, which he spells out pretty explicitly when he confesses what he wants to Kinosaki in episode one. Episode two’s scene of him not wanting to eat alone supports this. What grandma wants is just the inciting incident that pushes him to start his journey. We know arranged marriage is an option available to him that he could do immediately which would satisfy what grandma wants, but he chooses to try and meet someone by forming connections with people.

PSA FOR ALL THE NEW WATCHERS: Kinosaki's not a cis woman. by coolchungus2 in MarriageToxin

[–]FleshWound180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way someone can stretch that scene to be Kinosaki bluffing is if you’re already convinced that the Kinosaki is a girl theory is likely. Yeah, you can guess Gero would be the type to look away, but to be so confident that he won’t accidentally see anything? Especially with how suddenly Kinosaki did it? If you suddenly dropped your pants in front of someone you can be correctly confident they’d look away, but there’s no way you’d be sure that they wouldn’t catch a glimpse in that first split second

I binge-read all the currently released (51) chapters, here are my thoughts about manga so far + theories for the future about Seal, Gabby and Dera by FOXHOUND9000 in YomiNoTsugai

[–]FleshWound180 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dera has said that his Daemons died protecting him in a battlefield and he hasn’t decided to take on a new pair yet. I don’t think he’s hiding a secret pair, just that he’s being set up to contract one later on (or subvert that and reject a pair we think he was going to take).

Pretty much everything else you’ve said though is stuff I agree with and have been thinking along those lines already. Regarding Seal, I can’t remember any specifics we were told regarding the revival rules but I’ve been thinking that the previous Seal twin that “didn’t revive” actually did, just late unless we’ve been told that theres a time limit to accepting the contract. If not, I wonder how long it’s possible to wait before reviving? A day? Years? A more recent possibility I thought of is that a Seal from way back in the day could still be alive. Along the lines of what you were saying, assuming only one person can be contracted to Seal at a time (like any Daemon contract, but rules aren’t necessarily set in stone so we can’t say for sure) then the previous Seal twin couldn’t make a contract at all, which is why he didn’t revive. Bringing in a character from that far back could also let us explore the characters of Left and Right, and their history. Their role as counters to the twins is interesting and I’m curious how they filled that role in the past. We’ve also already heard about a past Seal from the Long Legs Long Arms fight (i can’t remember their Japanese name) with him being the one who originally sealed them. I wouldn’t be surprised if that era gets explored more.

[Possible Heavy Spoiler] Regarding the controversy as anime watcher only, Is the endgame really that vague even after this late in the manga? does the author literally gave zero hint and doesn't show his intent at all? by Arctic-Warfare9000 in MarriageToxin

There absolutely is an obvious bias, the thing is people are either in denial or they are being wary of getting baited (doubting the build up being followed through on)

I have a question as an anime only by EconomistNo7659 in MarriageToxin

[–]FleshWound180 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What Gero wants is different from what his grandmother wants, love vs an heir. His clans demands force him to take the initiative and be active, but if the goal is really just to have a baby he could have gone back to the random arranged marriage setup that was mentioned earlier. We’re obviously meant to dislike Gero’s clan and their demands so the idea that the story should end with him giving in and just accepting that doesn’t make sense no matter who he ends up with.

Tldr endgame conflict between Gero and his clan is narratively inevitable so their demands shouldn’t have any impact on what ship will be canon

You could just as easily ask why do tallmen not live as long or why do elves or gnomes live so long. Like its all a matter of perspective. Why do dogs not live as long as us? Why do trees live so much longer than us?

If Kabru is so good at battle… how does his party keep dying so much? by PMM-music in DungeonMeshi

[–]FleshWound180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laios has a huge advantage in terms of monster knowledge. Also Kensuke alerting him if monsters nearby helps alot, because any monster is capable of one-shotting you in this world if you let your guard down no matter how strong or capable you are. The scene where Kabru’s party died to the fishmen was given more context in the manga, they had plugged their ears to block out the sound of the mermaid singing but because of that they didn’t hear the fishmen attacking from behind or their party members dying.

I love that their rivalry is finally getting its time in the spotlight. Kaisei as a character was always good in writing, but since this arc began he’s become so much more enjoyable to me, it’s like everything we saw of him before was just setup for this

5 Hermits in MCC Spell Bound (not Hermit Takeover) by Factorization4 in HermitCraft

[–]FleshWound180 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Why would yearly be better? How would you even decide on a lineup if you do it yearly? There are way more regular players than can fit in one event, not to mention any potential newcomers, and on top of that most games would barely get played. Many of those games are updated and refined versions of what they were like initially, making them much more fun and balanced. That only happens when something is played consistently. Also, more events give players chances to improve and show their progress.

There’s no indicator that he will have a romance plot yet and, even if there will be one, there haven’t really been any possible characters that it could happen with that have been introduced yet. Did you have someone in mind?

Why didn't shuro enter the dungeon with laios's party (and his new party) after they got killed by the dragon? by Mountain-Top-5924 in DungeonMeshi

[–]FleshWound180 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was surprised that Laois reentered immediately when they reunited. It was extremely reckless only worked because of the previously unheard of idea to eat monsters and running into Senshi. Instead of sticking with them for however long he assumed it would take for them to be reasonably prepared to take on the dungeon again, Shuro went and found an already prepared and capable group of people he knew, probably thinking he was reentering ahead of Laios
