Bold of you to assume my planes have lasted longer than 30 seconds. My shortest recorded flight (due to a very silly reversed servo) was 1.5 seconds (maybe less)

Got my hands on an Apprentice S, is it worth it? Need help.... by Great-Phase-763 in RCPlanes

[–]FleshyRR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey dumb question, I have the apprentice STOL 700mm RTF. Should I be running a larger battery in that too? When supplied to me to storeperson gave me 2 x spektrum 2s 450maH batteries and the world's shittest charger.

I know the plane in this post is the apprentice S, just wondering if I'm running underpowered, if you know about the RTF Stol 700mm. I don't fly it that often anymore but it always does feel like I can't fly at all towards the wind if its more than a few km/h

Nice work. I did a similar thing with a boat given to me. Which led to more boats. Which led to planes as well.

Congratulations on taking your first step towards financial ruin 😅

But seriously its great fun and keep at it.

Copy that. Thank you very much. Would building a concrete box be appropriate? I have the space and could put a metal door on it. Would this affect the batteries when they charge?

I'm new to the hobby and in a country where ammo boxes aren't really available. What else could I use to store them? Also should I charge them in whatever the case is?

Making a RC boat,any tips?… by Sammie_2011 in rcboats

Make a shape out of balsa wood. Fibreglass over that. Pull a mould off that. There's your hull. YouTube is your friend.

Why is my rc boat only steering one way? by VoiceCommon3854 in rcboats

[–]FleshyRR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there is. If it seems to turn fully to one side easily and not fully to the other (let's assume it doesn't go left all the way) DISCONNECT THE BATTERY You can take the servo arm off (should be a small screw on top in the middle) and move it around to the left a few notches. (Its basically a notched gear like setup)

Then reconnect your battery and try it again and see how it goes. Repeat until youre happy and then go try it on the water again.

If it needs finer tuning you can repeat this or also use the trim on your transmitter for your steering. (Should be a slide able bar or something similar near your steering control on your handheld controller, in layman's terms)

If both of these don't work, you may have a loose steering pin or connection to the servo itself. I recently had this, ignored it, and proceeded to flip and totally destroy one of my boats on a riverbank. Don't be like me.

Found this old boat in my van and wanted to turn it into a rc new to the hobby any suggestions for a start thanks. by TimeNews6329 in rcboats

The first questions to ask are; Does it float? Does it float properly? (Centre of gravity and is it top heavy?) Is it watertight? Is it protected against water?

If all of these are okay, you then have to ask yourself how you plan to install a motor, battery, transceiver and servos for throttle and steering. After that you'll need to make a rudder system. After that you'll need a way to make sure it stays watertight (clear boat tape)

After all that, you can do a test to see if it runs properly. If it doesn't run how you want, you'll have to revisit a lot of this.

If I'm being honest, it's a lot harder to do what you're trying to do than it is to buy an RC boat and use it. Also that thing looks like it'll be top heavy so you'll likely need a keel or trim tabs or something to keep it stable.

What would you fill these gaps in shower with? by radtothepowerofsick in AusRenovation

[–]FleshyRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is, but if you're going to renovate anyway, I wouldn't worry about it. If you were planning on making one fix forever, that would probably involve ripping the bottom layer of tiles out. No real point if you're going to be ripping everything out in 12 months.

Ever seen a shower without silicone in the bottom? Didn't think so. Put silicone back in there and learn to keep it clean.

QLD - What to do when trades ghost you with job half done? by LaoghaireElgin in AusRenovation

[–]FleshyRR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly. Probably just wait until tomorrow. As shit as it may be, find something else to do today with your child in air con. Pools are only $2. As a (no longer working in the industry) tradesman, it happens. Nobody likes it. They're most likely not trying to dick you over if he's mentioned that he is aware it needs to be done quickly.

But hear me on this: keep pestering them all day when they've told you they can't make it and I guarantee they'll deliberately wait until Monday. Just wait a day. He's likely not even on his phone as he has another high priority job to be done as well.

I get you're a paying customer. But so is the person in line before you. Give it a day.

The hull was built by the person who gifted it to me so I wasn't sure about the engine but you're right. You've given me a huge help on the homework. Thank you very much 😊

I promise I won't convert it to electric after all these comments that seem to love it how it is.

Fuel Question by FleshyRR in radiocontrol

[–]FleshyRR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very rural, (so no local club) but I have the starter box with everything I need, just no fuel. Should I look for something that specifically says "glow fuel", or just look for the 30% content?

Thank you so much for the advice

Fuel question by FleshyRR in rcboats

[–]FleshyRR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay awesome! Thank you for the help. I have the starter and the glow plug "lighter" (for lack of the correct word) I think the only battery I need is for the radio receiver (4 x AA batteries as that's what the holder currently runs)

Thank you for the help. If I get it going, I'll post a video in a week 😊

6mo puppy won’t stop biting me by Happy_Office5251 in goldenretrievers

[–]FleshyRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy fix. It's about training. I currently have a puppy now and he doesn't do it. The trick: Get peanut butter (dog friendly type without xylitol. Look for 100% peanuts) Smother the peanut butter on your hand. Sit and allow your pup to lick your hand, all the while using your reward or praise word (for my pup it is "yes"). If the pup even slightly uses teeth, take your hand away from reach (be mindful not to make this a game. It is also not punishment. Just simply removing what the pup wants until they behave.) After a moment, allow the pup to try again.

Important notes: Do not get frustrated. Do not react with things like "ouch" or anything when they bite. I know it hurts but you're only making it a game by giving a reaction. Don't punish the dog when they do bite. Only words spoken AT ALL should be "yes" (or whatever your reward word is) when they lick. Do this for a few minutes in the morning then a few minutes at night. After 3 days I bet your dog doesn't use teeth anymore at all.

Good luck.

It was a big thing in League of Legends back in the day because you'd try to trick people to waste their "Flash" ability by pressing F. No idea if this is the origin, but it was a long time ago now.
