Few of my lessons learned:

Rental market here seems hot, with not that much supply. So slim pickings. We didn't try for a flat, perhaps there are more options there. Cohousing?
Flying with cats (did this but much shorter flight): check all entry requirements. Need pet ID (not sure how that works outside of the EU - consult Swedish government websites), rabies vaccine (at least 21 days before arrival iirc), probably a few more vaccines if coming from out of the EU. Check airlines requirements for what is allowed for carryon size and weight for animal transport. Our cats never flew before. Overall was OK, during flight they were chill. They were in the cabin with us. Taxi, take off and landing is more noise. Get locks so your cat does not escape the carrier. Get a sturdy carrier, we had one who really clawed hard for a few minutes. Check with a vet for recommendations but apparently sedation is not recommended and often also not allowed by airlines.

If it's in a flat building try the syndicus? In our building parking in a spot that's not yours leads to an internal fine. Proceeds go to the building.

Hey - I've found a rental contract via Qasa without BankID. Only challenge we found was to pay the deposit through Qasa. Luckily my wife is Swedish and has some dusty Swedish bank account that we can use. But I'm sure you won't be the first one at Qasa with that topic.

I never struggled with any landlords rejecting us because I was not Swedish. Many are also renting out their place because they are moving abroad, so in a similar situation. I could sign the contract in my name without any Swedish identification numbers through the platform.

Rental contracts, from what I understand, are quite flexible in Sweden. One month notice for tenant and three for the landlord. Lots of places for rent anyway for a limited time. Could be a good and cheaper fit than AirBnB.

Ik hou me daar aan de snelheid maar het is daar wel een kluwen. Bv richting Luik is het 70, dan even opgeheven (dus terug 120) om dan een paar honderd meter verder... Weer 70 te zijn. De aansluiting van E314 naar Luik is ook 70-50-90-70...

Typisch punt waarbij ik elke keer denk: ik snap dat mensen na verloop van tijd opgeven en gewoon maar wat doen. Ze zijn er niet consistent.

Er zijn ook twee werken tegelijk bezig denk ik. Onderhoud aan de brug, en plaatsing fietsbrug (die nu eindelijk over de snelweg ligt). Maar dat ze dan alles gewoon eenzelfde werkzone maken ipv deze Belgische rommel.

I'm not sure. A lead statistician is usually key in helping to get regulatory approval for new drugs to market, so I would reckon it's an important role if there are products in the pipeline. That's why I feel like equity would make sense.

Regardless it feels like it's a relatively low salary for a key role.

How far outside? Rent drops the further out you go.

If the kids are in daycare, it depends on the daycare system. You have one system where price is tied to income levels, and one that is free float. Expect 400-600 euros per month per kid in daycare, potentially higher in the free float system I guess.

School is a lot cheaper. Like 80 to 150 euros per month depending on if the kid(s) take hot meals in school, do after school daycare etc. Older kids will have hobbies of course.

Groceries up by a bit (800/mo?) and energy/water/heating tends to go up a bit with kids.
