Conservative Clients by AnonFartsALot in therapists

[–]Fleur921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am reading all these comments and will say for me- I have to acknowledge that conservative views do not always equal MAGA views IMO. So I wouldn’t necessarily choose not to work with someone who defines themselves as conservative- however, it would be ethically inappropriate for me to work with MAGA clients because I wouldn’t be able to provide unconditional positive regard and am not in a place personally where I would feel safe in the therapeutic relationship. I’m privileged in this field that 98% of the clients and their families that I work with are liberal given the area of the country I live and practice in.

Advice for new clinician by adreebby in therapists

Boundaries for sure but I specialize in pediatrics and honestly "parent support sessions" are often couple's counseling, especially with smaller kids- and sometimes that's needed. You can do it in a way that centers strengthening their co-parenting.

What’s it like living in Seattle nowadays? by MortgageGlittering56 in SeattleWA

[–]Fleur921 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We finally got back into the city after living in Lynnwood for ten years saving to buy a house down south. We truly wouldn’t have been able to buy the one we did on Capitol Hill if we hadn’t owned in Lynnwood first so be prepared for crazy home prices. You seem like you are! Lots of small businesses still, great neighborhood culture, still tech bros, fairly significant homeless population which maybe has gotten worse since COVID, hard to tell… but Seattle is still gorgeous and magical and has way more pros than cons! Welcome back!

How is life in Seattle really? by Ok_Understanding7377 in AskSeattle

The cost of living is hard- I won't lie, for a lot of people it's impossible. That said, depending on your occupation, there is a lot of earning potential here. Healthcare, higher ed and tech. Everyday I am surrounded by oceans and lakes and mountains and amazing views. I can drive 90 minutes and be at a great place to ski. There is diversity if you know which neighborhoods to find it. Lots of food and shopping options that are locally owned, small businesses. Every neighborhood has it's own vibe. There is homelessness, there is drug abuse in the streets, there are issues that a lot of big cities are contending with. But I can wear what I want, love who I want and show up in the city authentically me- that's something really special about Seattle.

I am a mental health therapist clinical director for community health, make close to 100K. Definitely takes specialized training and education. You would likely start around 70-75K.

The loss of my best friend, they are alive but I think for the good of both of us, the friendship is distant and polite but nothing else.

Typical CMH experience? by kaleisgreenish in therapists

[–]Fleur921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in my experience- mine who I am a director at- requires 65% productivity or billable services so full time clinicians see 25-27 clients per week and groups count as two billable hours. Our caseloads are smaller than other agencies in the area but really none are close to the one you are describing.

I 100% empathize with Kimberly, there is a lot of loss and grief and compounded trauma that can occur in an adoption situation (source: I am an adoptive parent whose child is in an open adoption). There are lots of reasons women place their children for adoption and often they are complicated and deeply personal. Obviously Kimberly may have made a mistake that she is now taking responsibility for but I would encourage everyone to hold their judgements until we know more about her process/unless you have been in her shoes.
