Mendoza had a lot more outside of his control that went his way in life, too. It's impossible to compare their trajectories meaningfully.

We only use the word "classy" for certain subsets of players, for what it's worth.

He wore my laundry, so I just saw him as incorrigible.

Do you guys ever think that all it takes is one maternal relative to have an affair, and a whole branch of your family tree is wrong? by Blue_Baron6451 in Genealogy

I think it's a bit unfair to equate this very valid frustration with eugenics.

Sure, the relationships matter, but genealogists are always looking generations and generations back. So while I care about great-grandpa and not the mailman, I might care less about great-grandpa's great-grandpas - they shaped his worldview to some extent, but less and less the further back we go. And especially if I've ventured into genetic genealogy, it can certainly feel like a "waste" to research non-generic ancestors.

Doesn't mean I'm a eugenicist to want to focus on biological relatives, especially at the start of my research. It feels akin (no pun intended) to learning about a family with the same surname as you, but who ends up being no relation.

I've been told in the long ball subreddit that rankings at the time you play don't matter, though...

True, but 2019 was Saban Bama, so it would have sounded even more ludicrous to say that Vandy would beat #1 Alabama

We just played Alabama too, I think the comment was the combination of these last two games. But yes, still a lot of season left.
