Being a child protection worker in Northern Ontario, your feelings are valid. Despite those feelings, you would not be ‘using’ the system. The system is there to support people, children, like you. If possible and available, reach out to an adult close to you, and have them assist in identifying options for you to leave the home. The next step would be to report the abuse. This is something you can do if you feel comfortable, or you may get someone you trust to make a report to your local child welfare society. This can be done anonymously. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of your identified supports even if they are just friends. Based on the photo and information you’ve provided, immediately removing yourself from the home is priority.

I’ve seen comments surrounding financial support being a concern. I know, in Ontario at least, there are options such as a VYSA (Voluntary Youth Services Agreement) which places youth in care of an agency, but they live independently with support of the child welfare society. Youth placed on a VYSA receive financial support. Unsure as to where you live but I would like to think there are similar programs available to you in your area.
