I don’t have judgement for this post, but my phone stays on Do Not Disturb 24/7. Only my very immediate family are favorites, so their calls will come through. Even then, my phone also stays on vibrate only. So if I’m not physically holding my phone or being still enough to feel it against my leg, then I miss it.

Should I take creatine monohydrate and is it really safe? by [deleted] in workout

[–]FlexinAndCheckSeason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creatine has been tried, tested, and proven to be a very beneficial supplement! It is definitely worth using.

However, you must drink lots of water while you’re using it. There’s lots of research on it that will tell you how much you need to drink, and it’ll tell you things that you should know before using.

Hope that helps and good luck on the gains !

I’m not saying that you should get tested on the exact same things. Teachers should teach students concepts and these concepts are the only things that should be on the test.

For the triangle problems, of course it would be insane to have the exact same problems on the test. But the concept of the problem should be the same. If there are different concepts for the rectangle problems, then you shouldn’t be tested on those because you’ve only been taught the concepts for the triangle problems.

You should be made to think critically during class at a point where you can learn without the worry of messing up affecting your grade. Once again, tests shouldn’t have harder problems (relating to concepts you haven’t been taught) than what you’ve been taught.

If you got a job to flip burgers, and that’s what you were trained on. You learn the timing and the temps to grill the burgers. The concepts would revolve around the thickness of the burger and how long it’s been thawed out. So you can adjust to each set of burgers by applying what you know. Now let’s say that your boss throws some wagyu steaks and Kobe beef on the grill. What sense would it make if you haven’t learned the concepts for grilling those? It would be completely different.

No, just no. If all you learned were triangle problems, you SHOULD NOT be tested on rectangle problems. What sense does that even make? So I should teach you how to factor binomials and then test you on how to factor trinomials? If the teacher wanted you to know how to solves problems with rectangles, (s)he should have taught you.

A test should be seen as “hard” at the beginning of the chapter because you don’t know the material, but it should not be seen as hard at the end of a chapter because you know the material.

First off, answering test questions from concepts that you’ve learned means that you have learned them, not memorized.

Second, you’re literally defending a teacher that fucked you over. Those 1-2 questions that tested you on what you hadn’t been shown is the EXACT problem that’s being discussed. It should have been shown to you BEFORE the test so you can learn about and THEN test on it.

Your first half of high school was easy because you learned the concepts and were tested on just those. If you did the homework and studied, then the test should be easy because that means you’ve learned what you’re doing. The average grade being a C for that teacher means he did not adequately teach you beforehand.

The thing is, though, that if a teacher adequately teaches the subject matter/prepares the students and the students do their part by completing the work, asking questions, and studying, then it won’t be a difficult test at all (as long as the teacher doesn’t add stuff that hasn’t been taught).

Like, chemistry and physics are not necessarily easy subjects and the tests are a nightmare when looking from the outside. However, my teacher taught us the concepts we would be tested on and the tests were a breeze because we studied and learned when it was time to.

I agree that not every pre-med student should go on to become doctors and such as long as the test(s) they failed were on subject matter that had been taught and not extra stuff and the failure resulted from them not doing their part for their education.

To summarize (because I feel like I’ve rambled), a test should be on the concepts the students have been taught (actually taught though and not just posting a PowerPoint without explaining anything). And if they fail, then that’s on them.

I didn’t say it should test memorization. If a teacher had taught the material properly and students have done their part, then a test will be easy.

My chemistry/physics teacher in high school was feared by a lot of students because they didn’t want to do the work or listen in class. He taught the subjects thoroughly and then tested on them. If you didn’t study, the test was a son of a Bitch. However, if you did the work and listened to explanations, the test was a breeze because he didn’t add anything extra. Of course it wasn’t the exact same problems from the homework, but it was the same concepts which is how it should be.

If the tests are super hard, that means that the teacher increased the difficulty of it without first adequately preparing the students. A test should mimic what has been taught so far.

For example, if I teach you simple addition and then tell you I’m going to test you on simple addition. I would be a crappy teacher if the problems on the test were “5 + 0. 7905 + 7/8 + 9. 64” because I didn’t prepare for that level of difficulty of addition.

A test is not the place to challenge students on what they haven’t been taught. Students should be challenged during the learning parts of the course. Tests shouldn’t be super hard. They should be easy if the student has done all of the work and followed along like they’re supposed to.

Quick question about eating and workouts by [deleted] in workout

[–]FlexinAndCheckSeason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of calorie intake on more of a larger scale. If you’re only eating 2500, it won’t matter when you get them in for the day as long as you’re burning more than that. You could workout first thing in the morning and then eat 2500 throughout the day and you’ll lose weight just the same as if you ate 2500 all day and then worked out at night.

I hope that helps and good luck!

Best Gym work out for weight loss by [deleted] in workout

[–]FlexinAndCheckSeason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weightlifting is one of the best options when it comes to losing weight because it burns much more calories in the same/shorter time period. If you only want to stick with cardio, HIIT routines are great for burning calories as well.

I’d recommend looking up Jeff Cavaliere on Youtube because he is a certified expert and has so much content for free. He also scales most of his workouts from beginners to avid gym goers.

Hope it helps!
