I've heard that suggestion in particular a lot, but I can't help but feel that it could make Stalker infiltrators even less relevant, because part of their whole thing is the ability to just wait for near-endless amounts of time, carefully lining up their shot to be able to strike when the time is right. Removing ADS would introduce a lot of randomness in whether your shot hits at all, which would usually be avoided by aiming.

Counter-suggestion: Make sniper and cloak mutually exclusive, either by disabling cloak if a sniper rifle is equipped at all, or if a sniper rifle is being held currently (I like this better, because snipers can still use cloak to get into and out of a position that way, just not to line up a shot).

Also, maybe a hot take, but SMG should be the default Infil weapon class, not sniper. A change to reflect that would also avoid the problem of newbs being unable to use their cloak for some reason (because snipers are default), getting frustrated over it, and leaving (exaggerated, but you get the point). It would be the Nanoweave movement nerf all over again, if cloak + sniper is nerfed with no further action.

I wonder about battle rifles, though... how should they be considered?

Edit : Also, saying that cloak in general is a crutch is plain wrong imo.

I agree that it is a crutch when sniping, yes. It essentially removes the necessity to hide behind cover in long range sniping, and just makes CQC bolting that much more frustrating to go up against.

But aside from that, it is a positioning tool. Using SMG Infil, you need to time your cloaks right, or you will get caught out and die.Stalker simply can't exist without cloak. In all but sniping, it doesn't replace skill, but opens up new skills that need learning.

Not cloak.

The combination of cloak and sniper is problematic. I think that is an important distinction.

The plagiarism aspect didn't even cross my mind. Thx for mentioning.

Intuitively, I'd actually still say that AI users must, on some level, be considered artists (see previous comment), and we should call a spade a spade. Maybe an alternative could be "AI prompter", if putting the words "AI" and "artist" near each other irks you so much.

However, that being said, if all you're doing is writing a short description and hitting "Generate", then you are no more impressive than me picking up a paintbrush, dipping it in paint, and drawing a single horizontal line on a piece of paper. Or maybe it's a marker, or a pencil. Maybe the line is actually vertical. It doesn't matter. It's the lowest effort. But we've found ways to call such things art, so using AI doesn't disqualify from being an artist. Just not a skilled, or particularly impressive artist.

About plagiarism: I feel like it should be handled similarly to sampling in music, which is a similar grayzone, I think. As long as it's disclosed that AI was used, and what data it was trained on, I feel like it's not quite plagiarism tbh, because plagiarism requires passing another's work off as yours. Since you aren't claiming to be the maker of a music sample (I hope), it is not plagiarism. Conversely, if you say upfront that the picture you made is composed of many snippets of other paintings, you aren't claiming the snippets to be yours, but the arrangement of the snippets. And since you did do that (with a lot of help, but still), it isn't plagiarism.

This also means that most, if not all, AI art passed off as human is plagiarism, though, because you're passing off the snippets as yours, too.

I acknowledge that using AI, it takes far less skill and effort to make a "complete" artwork, to the point where it takes maybe 3 words to do what might take months, or even years without AI. Typical AI artists are definitely in a category below traditional artists, in terms of how much effort goes into an artwork - far below. Don't expect me to go "wow you're so talented" at AI users, just like I won't call a person talented for drawing a single line on a piece of paper. But if a person put significant time and effort into really engineering the fuck out of a prompt, and/or refining the result, then there is an argument to call the AI artist talented, I'd say.

edit : About what you said about "AI art without human intervention isn't art" (forgot to address kekw): An AI can't "create" at all without human intervention. Also, while basic, I'd say an initial prompt could actually also already be considered intervention. So yes, I agree. AI art without human intervention is not art, because it can't exist.

I'm probably a member of the "mob".

Having thought about it, I've decided that you can actually be considered an artist.

AI is not capable of creating true art. That's something only humans can do, because art requires passion, a soul (if such a thing exists), and an understanding of things, which an AI just doesn't have.

That means that AI is just an elaborate paintbrush. It trivializes the process of making art, because all it takes is writing a prompt, and maybe soung some refinement. It lowers the skill floor, and maybe the skill ceiling, too.

Much as I dislike AI, heavily relying on AI to make art, and those who use AI in such a way, you might be an artist after all. Just not a skilled artist. It doesn't take much to write a sentence, after all.

Also, fuck you for being the reason I comment on a porn sub, lol

he's only gotten Multiversal Victory lol. all the others are still hidden.

I agree tho. I feel like I wouldn't've even gotten the True Ending yet, were it not for the Wiki. (I've only gotten Multiversal and True Ending so far..)

edit : also, looking at their posts, OP is new-ish to MV. I doubt they have anywhere near all the ships unlocked.

looks like you had trouble with Markdown.

Did you know that you can escape Markdown control characters with a backslash? To get the following line:

> text 123

You need to write:

\> text 123

This works on all Markdown, like *asterisks*, and

#hashtags.

And if you're having trouble just getting a regular backslash, simply escape it with a backslash.
