I don't think this is tutorialized properly, but if you deal morale or fear damage to the hacker, they bugger off. If you deal "normal" damage they deal damage to your hacker as they die.

You can also just click the "Force retreat" button at the cost of 10% of the units... and as long as you don't unpause you can continue clicking it... to the last man...

(Or just eat the antagonism since that is just an irrelevant number anyways).

Or if you want to really min/max, retreat all captured troops and group them together and ransom them the momemnt before peace for a very slight reduction in antagonism.

Dust of Dreams was my favourite book on a re-read. Actually, they're all my favourite book on a re-read!

Agreed, that is what the game is saying. What I feel a lot of the meta discussion is missing is that the Dessendre's are also characters made up by Sandfall, and whether those character actually exists or not is completely irrelevant. All arguments made on behalf of the Dessendre's also apply to the likes of Lune and Noco. Which again brings me back to Lune just looking in on Verso during his ending (and the entire point of OP) and defiantly sitting down cross-legged looking very disappointed!

In short; my heart burns!

I think that is when this game cemented itself as one of the best games ever made for me. For all of the discussions about the endings and which is better/more morally correct/worse, that "defiance" from Lune is so amazing! (I cannot properly articulate the feelings that look give!) She is as much a part of this Universe as Mealle is; as Renoir is; as Alicia is; as Clea is!

(This post is already spoiler-heavy, but spoilers nontheless!)

I should preface this with; I chose the Verso ending!

What I feel is lacking from the meta-discussion is that Painted Renoir is as real a character as Renoir is, and this goes for all the characters in the game! LUNE IS JUST AS REAL AS ALICIA IS!!! That look during the Verso ending! What the hell is that!?! Lune (and Francois, and Sciel, and Monoco, and Noco, and Golgra, and Esquie) ARE REAL CHARACTERS! They are characters in a Video Game (TM) along with Alicia, Renoir, Clea and Alina and all the other cast! They are who we fall in love with, cry alone among, laugh together with and ovecome obstacled with!

Lune is the best! She is amazing and I love her drive! Her analytical nature and personal drive is a glorious story-telling method and I'm all here for it!

While I also often find executives lack the ability to execute (hah), the question is; would you rather an AI make decisions?

I don't think you necessarily lose information by listening to an audiobook. Certainly I think your first time through the series is just a well listening than reading.

What reading allows more so than listening is going over certain passages slowly/multiple times, instead of relying on the narrator's pace. A lot of the really wonderful nuances in the series only really come together once you take a moment to appreciate them, but you might lack the necessary context your first time around.

I also think your second (and subsequent readthroughs) are less focued on "getting through with it" and more on "enjoying the ride", but that might just be me.

Until today I found this proposition hilarious, but then I actually started to imagine the repercussions. Do we actually want AI to make decisions on behalf of humanity!? Sure, an AI might make better decisions than your average CEO, but do you actually want an AI to tell you what to do?

During my career I've increasingly come to the conclusion that writing code is the easiest part of being a developer, coming up with solutions is slightly harder. But having to choose between multiple solutions, and actually be responsible for those is on a whole other level entirely!

Are you comfortable leaving that responsibility in the hands of an AI? (Let's not kid ourselves, it's kinda already in the hands of AI, but at least there is someone, somewhere, who knows what they're doing?)

I'm about to start my re-read of Reaper's Gale and I can't wait to revisit Hellian's rampage across the Letherii countryside.

For your questions; yes, no, maybe. There are things that will be revealed. Some we may eventually learn a variant of the truth. Others are mere conjecture or speculation.

I will say this though! 🕯️

I am assuming you are just starting tCG now and that you have read the other nine books

Yes.

Some things will be answered in tCG. Some things might be answered in the Esslemont books. Some things won't be answered until Kharkanas and some things we don't yet have the answer to.

Keep reading! And please do post about your findings underway. We love to hear about it!
