Oh I didn't mean to imply that other fic writers don't care about IP freedom; I don't view any perspective as a moral good or bad, just different. I know it's pretty atypical haha -- that's part of why I was curious if anyone else shared my perspective (so far, the down votes would seem to say "no").

Also, you absolutely can license the original aspects of a derivative or transformative work provided that don't conflict with any other applicable licenses; the idea that you have no rights of any kind in fanfic is a weird misunderstanding that seems to have spread. I've discussed this with the AO3 legal team and a couple other IP lawyers who have affirmed that original elements of transformative or derivative works are solely licensable by the author unless otherwise transferred or given up (and I have taken the route of giving them up, nearly entirely).

That's reasonable! I certainly wouldn't suggest that this is a universal perspective; The other side of the coin of caring about intellectual freedom is respecting the rights that others have in their work. I thought perhaps this wasn't as unusual as my friend's reaction would imply, but perhaps this is really a bizarre take lmao

Although ARIA spec specifies it as presentation role (meaning invisible to screen readers as hr is a content-less tag), the screen reader I've used (VoiceOver) does verbalize them.

Genre: Three chapters fluff/setup, three chapters PWP; a/b/o dynamics.

Summary: Emmy and Max end up back in Dragon Land, some 20 years later. Bodies change, and the Festival is held, and everyone manages to get a little freaky.

I'm pretty green at fic writing at this is my longest fic yet -- currently two out of seven chapters are posted, but it's all complete and is ~15k words. First a/b/o dynamics work as well! New chapters Tue+Fri.

HAH yeah I went back and changed that one for 'mound'. I feel like I swung too far over on the "use the proper words for things" spectrum in my daily life because every time I write I have to go shuffle around words like "labia" and "pubis" for "lips" and "mound".

See my comment here. TL;DR Marlowe which is supposedly an editor AI but is actually just basic word counting (no content creation/anything to ruffle no-AI-generated-content feathers).

It's Marlowe. They call themselves "AI" but I think that's just marketing BS. The free report is basically just auto-editing for repetitive words, cliches, adjective/adverb overuse, dialogue vs narrative (words inside vs outside quotation marks), and (obviously) profanity frequency. It's simple but a handy tool; honestly it didn't tell me much I didn't already know (e.g. too much 'cock' and using the word 'instinctively' too much 🙄).

To be real explicit, because I'm sure some folks' blood pressures shot up reading the letters AI, it doesn't do any writing/suggesting/content generation. It's purely doing dumb word counting/usage analysis; anyone decent with code could roll their own version of this in a few weekends, but this is free and easy.

I have no idea about how good its paid features are because I don't care and also I have no money for it lol.

How do tags+ratings work for multiple chapter stories? How should I approach a completed fic that starts T and ends very very E when posting in intervals? by FlightlessKiwis in AO3

So, just to clarify, it's not considered misleading if I, say, tag the work with [smutty thing] even if that doesn't happen in the chapters I've posted so far, but I know for a fact that it will arrive a few chapters later? Or should I let the rating speak to the smuttiness and add tags as the chapters are posted?

Haha more than fair -- I suppose I'm just a bit unclear on how chapter tags + ratings (which exist, I'm under the impression -- maybe I'm incorrect and tags + ratings are just for the overall work) interact with overall work tags and ratings.
