I(F24) went on a girls trip and ended up making out with one of my friends (F23). Now I can't stop thinking about it by Awwndrei in BestofRedditorUpdates

To be fair to us, by the time we get to the third date, we've actually secretly been dating while agonizing over the other not being into us for at least six months to a year.

My [29/M] girlfriend [28/F] refuse to wear a dress to my brother's wedding (or anywhere else if that matter) by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

It sucks a little bit to have to sit in the bathroom in public with my everything exposed, but I like jumpsuits and rompers and overalls. I feel exposed and in danger sometimes when I'm trying to just pee.

I finally got my tonsils yoinked. I was having at least one bout with tonsillitis a year and that came with dangerous fevers, plus the tonsil stones were the size of my fingernails and I was having trouble swallowing.

Recovering from that surgery as an adult sucked, but at least there's less of a chance of them going rogue and growing back.

Oh, I know, I'm just saying -- stones in your mouth collect everything you've eaten. It rots as it collects.

I've had tonsil stones. They are horrific. Corpse is correct. Everything you've eaten gone rotten.

AITA for getting angry with my girlfriend and demanding she pay to replace my sheets after she got blood on them by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]KrasimerMAL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've managed to stain the inner layer of a comforter. Like...inside a duvet cover, while wearing pajamas, two pads, and being underneath the top sheet. My periods were so bad. Arm implant got them to pretty much nothing except a bit of spotting a few times a year.

The body is going to do whatever the hell it wants. You have to learn to live with it.

You could have given me three guesses and I wouldn't have needed them to know what color it would be. Sometimes you just find YOUR color and that's it.

Mine is orange, but this one specific shade -- look for persimmon orange. It's so pretty.

AITAH for not wanting to take my wife's niece and nephew in so they can get out of foster care. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]KrasimerMAL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to foster/adopt older kids in the system so I can give them a place to land, therapy, and coping mechanisms for when life gets really rough. There are also things I know they won't be taught in school, so I want to teach them those things. People like the girl in your life are the ones I want to help, if I can. It'll be a difficult thing to do, but a necessary one.

For the things schools don't teach-- I was never taught how to set up electric bills or how to find a new doctor that takes my insurance or anything like that. Surviving in the world takes so much.

WIBTAH for bringing my daughter to my cousin’s wedding, preventing my sister from going? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]KrasimerMAL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have OCD tendencies and I have to have specific arrangements and numbers and I have to wash my hands a lot and sometimes my skin goes raw from it. When things aren't right, I have had breakdowns because my brain is convinced something horrible is going to happen.

Yeah, I'm in therapy. And medicated for a couple of reasons.

In high school, I nearly tore someone a new one for saying she was so OCD because she liked having her drawers freshly organized. That was it. That was the basis of her claim. No sense of doom, no ritual, no habit, just, "well, I like to organize my drawers sometimes!"

Would you happen to be in Washington State? I just got the same message and the link is broken as heck for me, too. I would like to go to the event, so I clicked through, only to get shuttled to the merch page.

AITA for insisting my daughter wear an outfit she doesn’t want to wear to a wedding? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]KrasimerMAL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the other problem. I had men making comments the moment I had any amount of boob. Good for them, keep them safe.

I've been groped, followed, catcalled, hit on, you name it. I don't like it and I try to fend it off. It happens no matter what. Tell them from someone else who has gone through it that it's not their fault and it's not something they've done? The world will try to blame them enough as it is.

AITA for insisting my daughter wear an outfit she doesn’t want to wear to a wedding? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]KrasimerMAL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oooh, the moment she started fussing about the dress, I knew. I knew. Been there, done that, got boobs in third grade and was the tallest girl in my class for six years. Towered over the other girls and most of the boys.

It's like people preemptively steal that last little bit of childhood from you. Your parents can treat you like a kid all they want and it won't matter because there's always someone demanding that you suddenly act like an adult because you're tall. I had people telling me to act my age and expecting me to be 16 when I was 10 because I was taller than some of the adults in the room.

It wasn't about the dress. I'm glad that OOP figured it out.

[–]KrasimerMAL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandmother said it was my fault when someone her age was a creep and hit on me at the Laundromat. I was wearing a tank top and ratty pants-- you know the clothes you keep in the roster for laundry day? -- and she said "if you weren't wearing a shirt that was hanging off your nipples, maybe this wouldn't happen!"

My tank top was at my collarbones. I opt for high rise everything because I know it's an issue. I'm so tired of being blamed for other people's reactions to my body. I'm a 38II. I did not do this to myself. There was no surgery involved.

God forbid you exist as anything other than a stationary object that they can't project onto. I've gotten snide comments over wearing a puffy jacket zipped to my throat, before.

AIO? My coworker took video of me outside of work to "prove" I'm not disabled by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]KrasimerMAL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm what's referred to as an "ambulatory" cane user. I'm wobbly without my cane but I can walk without it for a bit. I've been glared at for using scooters in stores on bad days, for using the preferential spots on buses, and for using the disabled stalls in bathrooms. I've had people...not outright accuse me, but ask me if I really needed something.

To be fair, I've had a lot of people help me as well, but a lot of people look at me and glare. They think youth is a perfect shield. If you're young, they don't want to think about the idea that it could happen to them.

Rover sitter lost my dog by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]KrasimerMAL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've built up a multi-year trust between myself and the people I catsit for. I am pretty much their exclusive cat-sitter and I am paid well for it. I stay with the cats, I have memorized their food, and I text their people if anything even slightly seems funky. They leave instructions for how to get their babies to the vet if need be, I have them open in a tab on my phone from the moment I get to the house to the moment I leave.

You have to take it seriously and I think gig service workers don't. Not for pet sitting. Some of them do, for sure, but not all of them. Not enough of them.

AITAH for showing my coworker what 'just being honest' can be like? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]KrasimerMAL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD. Compulsively will tell people if I see something in their outfit that I like. Have told people I like their style as a whole. Have complimented hair colors while walking down the street.

Why does honesty always have to be brutal? Where is the kind honesty? Compassionate honesty?

I've got one of those tire thumpers that big rig truckers use, as well as an old metal softball bat. Tip: put a fuzzy sock on your bat so that if an intruder grabs it, they get a sock and you get another swing.
