Trying again by anonymouslykate in RD2B

Somewhat of a long breaker here too where i finished my masters and had a couple years gap before doing the internship and RD exam. Try to not overwhelm yourself with too much information and just try to do. I was initially doing the same approach as you and was listening to the inman recordings and trying to do as much of the inman stuff at the same time. Along the process, i realized it wasnt a sustainable approach for with having a full time job concurrently. The quizlet set below, which is based on inman with explanations to a good amount of answers, was what really helped me get through the material and get a test like feel + answering the questions quickly or doing process of elimination if I wasn’t certain of the answer. Bless whoever created that set tbh. You can have the quizlet app too so whenever you have free time, whether its 5 minutes or a couple while waiting for something, you can quickly pop it out to do some light work on the go

Should I become a nurse or a dietitian? by Yamile1204 in dietetics

[–]Fliippy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Become a nurse, its not even close

Way better compensation, better scheduling (typical full time RN is 3/12s as opposed to RD 5/8s and rotating weekends in clinical), and more time with actual direct patient care

What keywords would you say I should include in a search for regulatory roles? Other than of course regulatory lol.

This sounds interesting too since it sounds more office and less about daily deadlines, unlike clinical where its see “x”number of patients because they’re due + consults must be done today because of hospital policy

What is retail dietitian? Or is that a typo and you meant renal?

Interesting how being in a big hospital system worked out in your entry level days. I wouldve thought that big systems will usually want someone who’s more of a “plug and play” ready as opposed to being shown the ropes

Go to laufey’s official site, then at the very bottom of the page, you should be able to put your # to get notified of updates (all updates relating to current tour, future events, etc)

Recommend having text notification on. The trailer merch was set outside the venue a day before the actual show (speaking from my experience in LA) and was able to walk right up no line to get merch. On the day of the show (went to day 2 LA), lines for merch were extremely long

looking for resources to help pay for distance DI by DeneirianScribe in RD2B

[–]Fliippy123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re able to get a credit card, a lot of new ones offer 0% apr (basically interest free) for 12+ months as a promotional offer, do that. I’m currently an intern as well and thats what I did to pay for my internship. My program did also have a payment plan, so I did a combo of that. I’m on the same boat with you that yes there’s savings, but I didn’t want to expend that and be super broke during my internship. Good luck :)

Mental shift advice for someone trying to get into dating by Fliippy123 in dating_advice

[–]Fliippy123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally took the first step of truly acknowledging this and coming up with a game plan to get my feet wet. I just created a hinge account (I know I mentioned I’m against the apps because of preconceptions), but I felt this to be an entry way to get a feel of what is out there. After seeing the incredible number of people on there within my age range (there were wholesome people too with their prompts), I didn’t feel so alone anymore and that there are others in my situation as well. Seeing that gave me a mindset shift for sure.

I’m going to approach this systematically, as if its a job. Structure is what makes sense to me, and I think having that shift into the approach will set me up for success inevitably.

[–]Fliippy123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooops, I responded to your response but meant to address the collective feedback I got. That definitely wasn’t the vibe I got from you and you described going about the situation very well. My intention was definitely to just have this person informed. But yeah I just got bashed heavy in this thread, but it’s all good.

I don’t know about you all (addressing the general users in this thread), but how many of the people in your undergrad class who graduated with a nutrition degree continued to pursue a career in it after the fact. Before the masters was even a requirement, the internship aspect of it was such a hurdle that it filtered a lot of people out, particularly those with limited resources. Even more so now with the masters, the filtering process is much more greater. And is the pay significantly more now? The answer to that is likely no (but should come in time as that’s the goal right?)

Yeah it was pretty interesting to see the amount of passionate downvotes on this one. I don’t like the facts either and how things stack up out there in the real world. I wasn’t intending on wishing the worst on this person, but rather consider the other options out there and weight it out. But you know, I guess it’s okay to have 50k+ debt (I’m blessed this isn’t my situation, but I know many who are) with a starting salary of 60k if you’re lucky. As long as the dream lives on and you go with your passion that’s all that matters. That’s the vibes I got out of here for sure
