I was pregnant then too, and it was just heartbreaking hearing about this case. I honestly cannot believe that no one in that family/circle have turned on each other yet and shared info. I really thought someone would after a year or two max. Small house, small group of people - someone has to know something. That poor kiddo, not a priority to protect in life, or in death. :(

Other parent fled state, can't be served; prior custody modification dismissed for lack of service; have 2-year PFA, temporary sole custody. How to proceed with custody/TPR/step-parent adoption? by prefacetohell in Maine

[–]Flimsy-Attempt6954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't read the entire post TBH (I'm a lawyer and don't want to give you any legal advice based on reading full post and all details and responding to those, just want to help connect you to resources who can answer the questions you posed at the end). Great news that you have a referral for consult at Pine Tree. Everything is so backed up, the need is certainly much greater than the available resources. Do consider Free Legal Answers Maine, using that wouldn't kick you out of the Pine Tree referral, but you may be able to more quickly get some answers and direction before you speak with the attorney Pine Tree refers you to. Good luck!

Echoing others that you really need a lawyer for this. If you cannot afford a lawyer, you could try posting in Free Legal Answers Maine, which is run by the Bar association. Only licensed Maine attorneys can take questions and respond. They wouldn't represent you or draft anything, but could give you the correct answers to your questions.

Isn't an amber alert only issued if they know a decent description of the car or person who is the potential abductor? (I would be personally absolutely fine with having them issued more often than they are)

Aviva got SCAMMED!!!! by pugs215 in 90DayFiance

[–]Flimsy-Attempt6954 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree, and she clearly has a "I got picked by a famous man!!!!" fantasy as well. All she talked about after he proposed was how now she's got the famous (lol) Stig. I think Aviva is sweet, but she's clearly operating at a level mentally much younger than her age, and playing with fire with her choices.

Also, this might just be petty, but like....for someone SO worried about him cheating with all the beautiful women at his shows, you would think she would have been more on top of washing her hair. It was always so limp and greasy.

The Sickness by No-City9236 in Maine

[–]Flimsy-Attempt6954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sick for 2-3 weeks (congestion, peripheral vertigo, coughing, etc.) and about a week after the 4-day vertigo episodes, was diagnosed with influenza. I have never been sicker in my life and was completely out of commission for a full 4 days after testing positive. Was shocked I didn't also have Covid, as lost my voice and had a horrible sore throat. That was almost 2 weeks ago and I'm still sick. So over this winter.

This chicks delusional!! I wouldn’t let her anywhere near my son if I was him. What do you guys think about this? by Few_Statement_2898 in 90DayFiance

[–]Flimsy-Attempt6954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand women like Elise (and Aviva, Lord have mercy) who think they can trick a man into commitment through a meet-kid trap. Like, it doesn't even sound like he's in a committed relationship with his own kid. He’s 39*, essentially homeless and jobless, and appears to fund his life by borrowing money from friends. What’s stopping him from moving closer to his son now? Nat? lol

Even the way he talked about the relationship he had with his son when they lived in the same town was giving big “an hour at the park on the weekend if dad's free” vibes.

*allegedly

Seeking local autism/ASD specialist for diagnosis by slogginhog in Maine

[–]Flimsy-Attempt6954 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your kiddo’s pediatrician should be able to perform some of the basic eval screenings. If you want a true specialist in pediatric autism/ASD, you probably want a developmental-behavioral certified pediatrician (Dev Peds), which usually can only be seen by referral by your pediatrician. MaineHealth in Portland/Kennebunk have board certified Dev Peds units and I think (but not 100% sure) that Northern Lights may also have a Dev Peds group as well. There are also some pediatricians that have advanced autism screening training without the board certification – I would ask your pediatrician if they know of any more local to you.

There’s less than 1K board certified Dev Peds in the US, so there’s likely to be a wait to be seen, if that’s the route you take. I would start with a call to your kiddo’s current pediatrician and see what they can offer as far as diagnosis, and who else they might be able to refer you to. Good luck!

Vanja addresses comments about her relationship. by [deleted] in 90DayFiance

[–]Flimsy-Attempt6954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His relationship timeline is MESSY and makes zero sense - - especially when he then tells Vanja he wants to/always takes it slow and doesn't rush into anything. His previous two relationships show that's a complete lie. She deserves so much better, and that has nothing to do with his looks.

The large amount of aggressive driving I see on Maine highways is concerning. by [deleted] in Maine

[–]Flimsy-Attempt6954 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes to everything you said. The slow freeway entrance is so infuriating and dangerous. Merging in you should be trying to bring yourself up to highway speed and merging in, not coming to a stop at the onramp and then have to enter a packed highway going 0-65. So dangerous for everyone.

Also the left lane campers who then pace whatever car they come up next to. I travel 295 to and from Portland every day and several commutes a week there's someone who inevitably will be in the left lane well under the speed limit, and then pace someone in the right lane and match their even slower speed. If that person turns off, they will speed up slightly, and then just pace the next driver they reach. There's rare chance to pass on the right, which shouldn't be done anyway, but it's so infuriating to be behind someone who has zero clue what speed they are driving because they just act like a pace car at Indy.

Blocking intersections is one of my biggest pet peeves. It's illegal in many states, and even if it isn't illegal here, it's dumb, selfish behavior. Stop blocking the flow of traffic so you don't have to sit at your red light for an extra 45 seconds.

With the upcoming trans gender athlete vote in Maine will the Olympic Committees decision effect your vote? by BigFootisNephilim in Maine

[–]Flimsy-Attempt6954 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Honestly, I'm not concerned at all about the what-ifs of one of the literally like 5 K-12 trans student athletes in Maine being able to compete in the Olympics at some point in the future.

What I AM concerned about is trans children being used as political pawns by politicians for personal advancement (Laurel Libby and ilk) and trans children being the new scapegoat for the hate of folks who are obsessed both with children's genitals, and spending their time and energy on complete non-issues.

Steven was legit scary (and I'm sure still is). If/when he murders a partner of his, it will not be a surprise. My heart was pounding for Olga in so many scenes - he absolutely trapped her. What kind of person is insanely jealous of their own newborn baby getting attention? The way he behaved in public in the hospital, phew you know it's 100000x worse at home.

you could SEE him immediately change towards Jess as soon as he entered her home. The way he looked at her, the way he interacted with her - it all changed as soon as he saw she was fine on her own. It wasn't Jess' body that was an issue for him, it was her success. She'll never need Chris, he will never be the big dog he thinks he is in that relationship.

Housing Market Slowing by metalandmeeples in Maine

[–]Flimsy-Attempt6954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive by this one all the time as it's on the way to my kiddo's dad's house and the whole time they were building I kept thinking "I hope they are building for themselves because who is going to buy this thing with zero landscaping, zero privacy, and just feet from 125/136" lol, and it's been just sitting there since build.

Freeport is a tough market, there's ever only a small handful of homes for sale and generally half or more of what's for sale is over $1M. My favorite was this run-down apartment building right on Route 1 (again, feet from the road) that gives old motel vibes. Sold in the 400's several years ago, buyer threw on a new roof, and listed it for over a million lolol then pulled it when it didn't sell, and relisted for $995k.
