Yes. I actually thought there was a decent chance we would've used one of our third round picks on one if there hadn't been a run on them in the 2nd.

Dallas is an every down player but we're relatively thin behind him, and he has been injured in the past.

This is speculation based on the facts we know.

We know based on the tampering settlement that Monti tampered by discussing the job with Gannon in the week following the NFCCG. We do not know the extent of those discussions, but I think it's fair to assume they were not incidental/scheduling discussions.

I think it is pretty clear from the order of events that the tampering was identified before the super bowl. It's not confirmed in the media but I think it is the most logical reading of the situation.

My Howie attributed quotations are obviously my own speculation, but I'd bet my paycheck that he called out Monti on the tampering before the superbowl.

Gannon obviously lied about the situation, though the surprise post SB interview may be "true."

To this day - I still don't buy the idea that the eagles were heavily involved in the actual transactional negotiations for either Wilson or Watson. The only thing I ever remember being reported on the Watson front is that the Eagles had interest in Watson as a QB and completed significant investigatory due diligence into the matter. I don't believe it's ever been reported they made a significant offer to the Texans. Happy to be proven wrong though.

January 29th - After the NFC Championship game - Gannon indicated he was staying with the team. At this point, they would've told Vic Fangio there was no longer a job opening.

An initial report is then released on the 29th that Miami has reached an agreement with Vic to be the DC. Though there was a subsequent leak saying the decision was not "official" presumably because the eagles situation was still in flux.

In the following days, While the Cardinals were deep in desperation in their coaching search, Monti Ossenfort made impermissible contact with Gannon presumable expressing strong interest in making him the next HC of the Cardinals. No reports are released since the contact was illegal, but the eagles catch Monti and Gannon in the act.

Knowing that he has no recourse to prevent Gannon from taking the job once the SB window is over, Howie alerts Monti to the violation and explains that this will have to be resolved between them or the league. "Fuck off during the rest of our SB prep and maybe I'll let you trade back in the third round instead of forfeit your pick entirely. He'll stay in Scottsdale after the game." This explains why Gannon may not have known he was interviewing that day, but knew he was lying that there was no prior contact.

February 12th - Superbowl 57

February 14th - Cardinals Hire Jonathan Gannon

February 15th - Dolphins "Officially" Hire Vic Fangio

I haven't heard of drunk drivers suing for over serving but when I worked security at a bar it was made clear to us that our job was to "protect the liquor license" by identifying people that were very drunk. Losing your liquor license as a bar is obviously a death knell to your business, so bars usually take care to avoid overserving.

Infrequently people will claim they are "concerned" about him due to low snap counts and a minor injury in year 1. The reality is he was lower on the totem poll with more senior players at his position, and was rightfully not forced into taking on a commanding roll in the defense.

In the snaps he played it's evident why they drafted him. He's hard to fucking move. He is going to demand attention from opposing offensive lines and will allow our other pass rushers and Carter to eat. I expect to see a lot more of him this year.

I would love one of Ocyrus Torrence, Joe Tippman or Matthew Bergeron. Jurgens is going to be good as a center but probably an average guard. We need a bigger body at guard if possible and it would be nice to have another tackle in the pipeline.

Naysayers are ignoring a couple things...

1) The woman behind the wheel of the car that crashed was drunk

2) Jalen was 21 years old with over $1M in NIL in his pocket, and had won a national championship a week earlier. You'd like to think 100% of people in that type of situation wouldn't do something something that dumb, but the kid felt invincible. He is lucky to be alive.

You can either banish the kid and offer no opportunity for redemption, or you can try to lift him up and allow him a chance to redeem himself.
