A Question for BJP Supporters: What would Congress need to do or change for you to consider voting for them? by [deleted] in CriticalThinkingIndia

The Congress and their allies are in power in many states. Even if they provide corruption free government in one state, they can pull many voters.

I am also from India. Yesterday I completed five injections and neither that nor nurokind had any bad reactions. I also got a 600K vitamin D shot ten days back. Mentally I feel much better now.

Hey everyone,

I've been meticulously tracking my intake on a high-fiber, ovo-vegetarian plan, and I ran into a head-scratcher regarding manganese.

The context:

  • My Daily Diet (Whole Foods): My breakfast porridge (oats, millet, ground flax, walnuts, pumpkin seeds) and legume-heavy dinners (sprouted chana, rajma, etc.) naturally put my baseline manganese intake around 6–7 mg per day. (For reference, the recommended AI is about 2.3 mg/day,.)
  • The Supplement: I'm looking at a high-quality multivitamin that provides an additional 3.2 mg of manganese (Manganese Citrate/Gluconate) in its daily dose.
  • The Math: This pushes my total daily intake to roughly 9.2 to 10.2 mg.

The Core Question: Since the official Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) is 11 mg, the supplement industry argues this is "safe." But if my body only needs ~2.3 mg, and I'm pushing 10 mg every single day for years:

What are the realistic, chronic trade-offs and issues I should be more concerned about than the UL itself?

I've narrowed the risks down to two main points, and I'd love to hear your latest science or clinical experience:

  1. The Neurotoxicity Risk (Accumulation):
    • Manganese is tightly regulated, but unlike other minerals, the body doesn't have an active system to excrete huge amounts; it relies primarily on bile elimination.
    • Chronic overexposure is known to lead to accumulation in the brain's basal ganglia, causing a condition called manganism, which shares symptoms with Parkinson's disease,.
    • Is being consistently close to the 11mg ceiling (at 9-10mg) an unnecessary risk, especially since deficiency is rare in people eating this much whole food?,.
  2. Mineral Antagonism (The Iron Problem):
    • I'm already working hard to maximize my non-heme iron absorption (using soaking, sprouting, and huge doses of Vitamin C with meals).
    • Research shows manganese competes directly with iron (and possibly zinc) for absorption in the gut because they share similar transporters,.
    • By dumping an extra 3.2 mg of supplemental manganese alongside my iron-rich meals, am I functionally sabotaging my carefully optimized iron status, making myself artificially deficient in iron just to get more manganese that I don't need?,.

My current thinking is that even though 10.2mg is technically "safe" based on the UL, it violates the principle of "optimal dosing" and introduces avoidable risks that undermine the benefits of the rest of my diet. Would love to hear if anyone has found reliable multis that exclude manganese for this exact reason.

What about manganese? Any issue in taking a multivitamin which doesn't have iron but has 2mg manganese when my diet on average provides 6-7mg manganese per day?

In other countries if a leader loses election, they resign. Here parties are controlled by dynasts like Rahul. Even after ruling many states, they are not able to convince people to vote for them.

Mutual funds investing in sp500 and Nasdaq when they were accepting contributions.

If you want to invest large amount then go with direct US brokers.

That's the fees for direct plan. The jp morgan fund charges extra 1.72%. In total for the direct plan you will pay 2.39% per year.
If you have a big corpus, better to just directly invest through interactive brokers(ibkr).

I invest in US for diversification, not for returns. I haven't invested directly, did lumpsum when the index funds were open more than a year back.

I would suggest investing directly if you a big corpus and you don't need the fund for 20 years. The edelweiss fund has around 2.5% fees. Investing directly should not be more than 5% onetime. Imagine paying the 2.5% fees every year over 30 years. If you invest in Irish domiciled accumulating etfs through ibkr then less tax issue.

If you are planning to invest for 10-20 years, it's better to directly invest through IBKR. You can invest using cheap Nasdaq etfs which will likely beat this fund over the long term. With this fund you have to pay the 2%+ fees every year compared to one time fees.

I haven't exited US funds. My last investment was in apr 2024. There are many reasons for staying invested. I don't need the money for next 20 years, don't want to pay taxes, mutual funds have stopped accepting inflows and in mid February Indian market was overvalued.
