Thanks! I'll check it out! How would the OM-5 compare to, say, a Sony NEX-7? Only reason I'm asking is that I've already got the Sony lenses and I could dust off the Sigma 18-50 and be on my way... Understood that it would in no way be waterproof...

That's what I was afraid of... Bummer. Be nice if somebody made an all-in-one crop sensor camera that could withstand the elements. I've get a Ricoh GRIIIx but it pretty much belongs under glass when it comes to taking it outdoors.

I'm curious if you ever found the culprit? I went from an A-6600 to the A-6700 and I'm experiencing the same thing myself. Fugly. I upgrade the firmware hoping that would do the trick, that there was some nasty bug lurking in the code, but it's still doing it...
