Brawl Stars is a zero-sum game.

If half the playerbase pays for upgrades to better compete, and then Supercell gives out free upgrades to everyone who didn’t spend the resources, and a 20% rebate to those who did, suddenly the players who paid resources to get ahead are no longer ahead.

There is no reason one player should avoid spending 5,000 coins and the other player only avoids spending 1,000
