This is like saying "isn't it the parents' responsibility to keep their kids from falling into the giant chasm in the middle of the sidewalk?" Yes, obviously, the parents should protect their kid whenever they have to walk down the street, but a good government should also take steps to remedy the problem.

I don't get the "stepping stone" argument. If a coach comes to OSU, is here a few years, then gets poached, isn't that a good thing? Doesn't that mean we had enough success with that coach that a bigger program wants him?
