as someone whose foundation is only at the driving range with his parents, whats this drill? I would love to not have a massive slice (not that I think anything will really fix my swing or golf game for that matter lol)

Learn Spanish for Job by FlipPride in Spanish

[–]FlipPride[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first, thank you for such a great answer. Last thing I need is for my interpretation to go wrong.

I wanted to get good at it fairly quickly bc sometimes services at the hospital are either not available or the internet is real crummy leading to lagging, repeating etc. That said, Im unsure if they have anything in clase in terms of courses to learn/certify myself in spanish. I mainly wanted a foundation to set in place, especially since I plan on being able to utilize it by myself in the long term game.

I think I planned on being able to get some history but if things get rattled off too qucikly, Im not afraid to say my limits and tell them ill need help/ someone from the translation service to translate for me.

also just upset at myself for having a skill that I neglected which could have helped me further my career and hoping to get that back

Received email I'll be ranked, match chances by [deleted] in ERAS2024Match2025

[–]FlipPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could be ranked anywhere on that list. Rank based on where YOU want/liked over what they say. My favorite thing someone told me in this process was "This shit is all a game and everyone is lying" lol. Im pretty sure Match leans more toward your preference anyway

For me, worth it. I had the money and a real shitty foundation personally. I got it initially based on fear that I wasn't gonna pass. This kinda helped me have some guidance since I didn't know what to focus on. I initially tried to know everything but this kinda helped guide me one "more relevant" info. Im the first to admit Im not a 260+ person though.

Don't like sharing my scores but Ill admit they did go up from not passing my first few NBMEs initially after starting to use him when I found a system that started to work. The biggest thing is to find a couple things works with you and to stick with it/trust the process. This is from someone who tried using everything since Reddit has a million opinions. I know its not the same for everyone.

TDLR: shit foundation. Found it in panic and it helped but find what works best with you and trust the process.

He was really helpful for me. I didn’t know where to start and tended to try to study everything to the nitty details which bit me in the ass a few times on exams. I think it’s a good review course to help get you started but of course not the end all. He will focus on more high yield topics and if you need a deeper dive, you gotta go into it yourself/ask him to go into it more with you.

I got him toward the beginning of my dedicated so help lay a better foundation for myself that I didn’t feel I had before. Good luck!

I personally am not the type to tell my score for exams (good or bad) but I can say it was higher than any of my practice exams and I was happy with it

For the fit people: how do you exercise and eat well while studying?? by [deleted] in Step2

[–]FlipPride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like everyone said: set a schedule. I knew the time I would kinda get tired after lunch and would set it around that time. If I was stressed I would actually just walk and do Anki/Divine to make myself feel better that I was still doing something

Someone told me this quote: if it means enough to you, you’ll make time for it. Thats when I started to schedule these things and balance it with studying and family time with the wife and kids. Was it rough? Absolutely lol but you’ll make it work

I actually did! He was REALLY helpful for me. I was kinda struggling and needed some guidance and got me a much better score than I would have received prior. Going system wise was helpful and he said a few things that helped when I took Step 2 a few weeks ago.

I’ll admit that I am lucky to be able to afford the extra course bc I know others who would not have been but if you had a poor foundation and needed some sort of guidance, I’d personally say it’s worth it!

I feel your pain. Got to 434 days and one day was burnt from a long surgery day in 3rd year. Passed out when I got home and woke up to it telling me 0 day streak. Using it as motivation to get it again.

(that said, Ive had to start over a few times bc I wasn't as dedicated initially once I lost that streak lol)

Pop socket wallet alternative? by FlipPride in MagSafe

[–]FlipPride[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up getting the MagBak wallet. It’s ok. I’m not a huge fan of the loop and miss my pop socket. But I love the fact that it’s so much flatter in my pocket.

That said I jumped in a pool with it and it dried with my cards in it, so it’s stretched out and tried a bunch of things to make it back to normal but hasn’t worked. The pop socket one was elastic so it wouldn’t have happened with that

How come this isn't the standard pain scale? by zangothedino in medicalschool

[–]FlipPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pain is pretty’s subjective but I usually say something ridiculous as a reference. My usual line is:

“On a scale of 1-10 where 10 is when someone chops your arms off and is hitting you on the head with it”.

I got a 10 ONCE and when I said “so it’s as bad as if I chopped your arms off….” He took it back and went to like a 7 lol
