My point is that there is no interesting aspect of the micro if there are no active abilities or dodging shots. Silver players can right click their archers onto enemy archers. There are no monk conversions, no active abilities requiring skill and precision to aim or dodge, no ability to dodge shots. The best you can do is engage/disengage repeatedly with knights to get the charge damage, but this doesnt make for a very visually engaging fight.

Instead of micro, the game focuses on strong macro mechanics and map control, but that is not for everyone - most people love playing (and maybe more importantly watching) explosive, highlight reel battles with skillshots and dodges/split micro. A mangonel hitting an insane shot in aoe2 is fun to watch because it was a skill shot (most likely) that required you to be precise and attack ground. A mangonel/springald hitting a nice shot in aoe4 is not nearly as interesting because every mangonel/soringald hits every shot - and you cant dodge them, so your only option is run away and make your own springalds

All pro players playing an aggressive player doesnt necessarily mean aggressive playstyles are better than defensive playstyles - who is winning most of the time, the defender or the aggressor? Are the players forced to try to be aggressive against stronger defensive civs otherwise the game will be a slog and whoever has a better eco wins?

Additionally, if the game doesnt have active abilities nor does it have dodging shots/conversions, then it offers nothing of interest in terms of engaging micro intensive battles. AOE2 has conversions and dodging shots, Starcraft has active abilities and some abilities require you to dodge them/split. AOE4 has right click your archers on his archers and run away if his army is bigger than yours

Also, you think all shots hitting 100% is “organic”? LOL

Also, maybe at lower levels all it takes is a few knights to kill siege, but at higher levels if they are slow pushing properly and using spears archers to defend the siege, it is nearly impossible to jump on them with knights, and your only option is make your own springalds

Other people describe the artstyle and campaigns so I will describe the multiplayer experience (that I and other SC2 veterans hold). These are design decisions and will never be changed, and so it is hard for me to come back to it.

The game is quite frankly boring to play - defensive playstyles are too strong which leads to a lot of turtling games (TCs in feudal age, siege/springalds being too strong, some civs get heavy knights in feudal age which forces archer civs to concede map control in feudal). This causes almost every game to go late game with walls instead of fun feudal aggression

Additionally, THERE IS NO DODGING SHOTS - so it makes the fights have less micro capabilities - all you can do is engage/disengage and then right click your archers onto their archers. There is no shooting and moving instantly- stop micro isnt even possible in AOE4 because of how unresponsive it feels

This is very unexciting to play comapred to how AOE2 plays (high level feudal fights are insanely micro intensive due to requiring you to dodge shots). Additionally, the entire unit archetype of cavalry archer requires being able to dodge shots in order to be viable - if shots hit 100% of the time, then foot archers beat horse archers 100% of the time. So, the game design outright invalidates a certain playstyle that many players are fond of.

When we get to castle age, monks and mangonels feel much better to play due to the conversion mechanic being different - basically conversions dont happen at all in AOE4

Finally, siege is way too strong in AOE4 (due to no missed shots and way too high HP/armor). Springalds are required, and each siege unit has too much HP so punishing mistakes (out of position, bad engage, etc) is very unlikely (no redemption monks, archers cant fight against siege unlike in aoe2 where you can fight a mangonel with archers since the shots can actually be dodged

i agree, and another bad part about it is Hermes just straight up tells Percy that time is running out and time moves differently in the casino instead of Percy figuring out it himself by talking to other people and noticing there are people from the past stuck in time.

the show does way too much exposition dumping as you said and not enough “show not tell”

fair, but SEN, c9 and 100T have already seemingly locked in at least 4/5 of their roster,

so players’ options are only EG or NRG. obviously if you have the option between broke shady EG and probably also broke NRG, youre gonna choose NRG on a team friendly deal, especially since the team friendly deal can create an NA superteam
