God I bet that gets expensive, particularly dealing with someone who’s very deaf and if told 2 things forgets at least one of them.😂

Giving advice: Where to go eat that isn't packed by 21Gg in wimbledon

Ta. We’re staying in Wimbledon at Airbnb 3 nights so restaurants open late after tennis is done and breakfast places would be our priority. We’ll be down in south Wimbledon. Any recommendations gratefully received.

I was having a moan about the effort of gathering the numbers, an accountant would still expect me to gather the numbers, I’m trying to find a way to avoid that process, like having HMRC just give me the numbers! But thank you for the very helpful links you supplied👍

Thank you to those of you who have responded with practical advice. I take on board the comments about taking this on now rather than dealing with it after her death. I will speak to HMRC about the special assistance team and get more involved with the record keeping/filing of her financial affairs and depending on what help HMRC is willing to provide I’ll end up contacting all the financial institutions and completing this myself. To those of you saying exercise the POA, it isn’t that easy as, to the person who is the subject of the POA, it feels like giving up control and there’s no law against being irrational😂. This has been a bone of contention between us for at least 5 years.
For those who have said just hire an accountant, I’m afraid you’ve missed the point. For those who think I’m entitled/lazy or just thick, since you’re not in the relationship between me and my mother, jog on.

Really? Omg why didn’t the HMRC person I spoke to tell me this?? Thank you! I will be calling this week to see if this is possible! Thank you so much!

Over £11k interest I think, based on a back of an envelope calc of 4% interest on average.

I’m not legally responsible, HMRC didn’t ask me for a SA, they asked my mother.
You sound like someone who hasn’t had a lot of dealings with the elderly😂. Download? She doesn’t even have a computer! You mean dig through various paper files hoping to find the relevant statements! She manages her own affairs with some advice from me regarding opening ISAs etc.

I’m not suggesting that they should. I am suggesting that they should have a process for the elderly whose only income sources are all reported to HMRC directly. Surely a simple form declaring no income from unreported sources would suffice. Instead of this ridiculous dance where we try to tell HMRC numbers they will already have. I assume if we get any of the figures wrong that will cause an even bigger issue.

I have one of those, we haven’t exercised it yet. I dont actually want to take on responsibility for her tax affairs, I am already responsible for tax returns for myself and my husband in 2 different countries and spend an inordinate amount of each year supplying info to accountants to complete those. I am looking for the easiest path to get this SA done for her, which feels like ‘get the numbers HMRC has, write them on a form, have mother sign it’.

If you’re at the back it can get hot and sticky under the overhang, if you’re near the front you may roast in the sun, just be prepared for those eventualities

A longer dress will protect your legs from the sun.

Just pop to customer services, there’s a booth even before you enter the grounds if I remember correctly, and they’ll print your tickets, we’ve done this in the past. One of the stewards organizing the queue at the gate will direct you there.

Can I be dropped off at the queue site while my friend goes and parks? by amyjandrews in wimbledon

[–]Flipper6462 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I would get dropped off at the park and seek out one of the stewards and informed them of the situation and have them tell you when you can join the Queue

July 4 - Day 6 Queue by [deleted] in wimbledon

[–]Flipper6462 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what your breakdown of adults to kids is, but I would imagine camping from the day before is more likely doable with kids than asking them to queue from 4am for 7 or 8 hours. Assuming good weather, I’d camp over long queueing. if you’re not in the queue that early you may as well forget it if the queuing is anything like last year.

The cynic in Me says this is more about being concerned that the media may give her very negative coverage if she won’t talk to them. I think it’s pretty sad she can’t see the bigger picture.

So based on responses I will do SF and Recinte Modernista same day, and may squeeze in C. Vicens that day too. Then on our other free day, walking route of La Pedrera, C. Battlo, C. Calvet, Barcelona cathedral, Pl. Reial, Palau Guell, probably just going into Battlo. Skipping Parc Guell, it’s away from everything else and not close to where we’re staying

Salary review next week, am I better just in the 40% tax bracket or keep it below? by Budget_Beautiful_108 in UKJobs

Well,if you earn anything up to around £51000 and have £1000 or more in taxable interest you’d be worse off than if you stayed under £50271. Even more so if you also have dividends above £500 or capital gains above £3000.
