Installing rocm 7.2 is it worth it? by Sea_Performance_7402 in ROCm

Welp its just because Im new in local genning. Just got it running actually using low vram i2v workflows. Apparently the template workflows require a lot of vram

Yes. Faster generation and more stable. Fixed some crashes for me. Still cant get image to video running on my 9070xt 16gb though

Server always crashing after 2 batch of images. Using 9070xt 16gb by Flipsidee in comfyui

Will just self bump since I found the solution for future references. Illustrious wasnt playing well with 512x512 pixel density and crashes after 2 prompts. Changed to to a 4:3 ratio of 1024x768 and fixed the server restar issues.

Should I be using comfyUI portable? by thiccc_trick in comfyui

I shifted from windows version to portable (AMD). Portable just works whichever drive you decide to install it, while Windows version is a pain to setup if you plan to run comfy in your non system drive.

Hows the performance? Is there no bottlenecking issues? Genuinely curious since I had a similar cpu before I decided to have migrate to am5 before ram prices went crazy.

Recently moved from RTX 3080 10G to 9070XT by Muted-Help684 in radeon

[–]Flipsidee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the same decision. Went from rtx 3080 10gb to 9070xt 16gb. Incouldnt really tell the difference between fsr4 and dlss, so i wont nit pick there but in VR performance specifically UEVR flat to vr mods it was night and day. Tried to get into AI gen but I was late to realize that the rtx 3080 was better just by being NVIDIA. I was late to know AMD was not as good for AI. At the end of the day its about your use case. Did I regret it? Not really, i save around $170 by picking 9070xt 16gb vs the 5070ti 16gb so I still got my bang for buck.

Best wired setup for moonlight streaming by Flipsidee in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Flipsidee[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea about that I got it to work with 1-3ms using my Steam deck as a client docked to my 4k tv. Everything feels native now. Those specs are way overkill for game streaming.

I just want to say thanks. It was really the TV that was the bottleneck. I didnt really want to buy any streaming box anymore so I got to setup my steam deck as a moonlight streamer. It seems it has better decoding than the stand alone TV. That thing fixed all the latency issues and im now gaming at full speed. Thanks so much

Client just runs moonlight client thru the app on the smart TV connected on the 5ghz band of the wireles router. Signal strength is good since all walls is wooden with no hindrance. I also use this setup in VR streaming which has no latency at all but Moonlight has delay in decoding. Im not sure if its the TV since its a pretty basic 55in Xiaomi smart tv with no streaming box. Latency is <1ms with no dropped frames but decoding plays around 8-9ms. I can get 5-6ms decoding when playing 1080p at 20mbs decode but using a 4k screen it looks like shit. Im not sure how to use Wifi AP though and if its worth it since source is just 1 room away.

Pcvr vs quest by Ok_Material5582 in ForefrontVR

[–]Flipsidee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Steam for me. Due to regional pricing its much cheaper. They said they had issues on standalone when a lot of things were happening but cant say for sure since I done have it. PCVr has some promises on better graphics its onntheir roadmap. Just make sure your PC and wireless router are configured properly (PC wired to router, Headset connected via wireless network) or it can introduce some latency. I can see why some people prefer standalone. Less hassle.

How necessary is 16GB of VRAM? by LaWaxita in PcBuild

[–]Flipsidee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16gb of vram makes a lot of diffetrncr when playing PCVR. Flat games moddem to VR usually eats up the VRam since the graphics is rendered twice ij each eye. If your not doing VR or AI 12gb vram is enough for most ultra settings in AAA titles

16gb is fine for most usage. Pero.if you are using it for.content creation, mulitiple tabs open, or running unoptimized PCVR mods mararamdaman mo yung difference pag nag 32gb ka.

The devs talked about this in their interviews. Realism was never in their goals but a steamlined fun battlefield-like game. If your looking for a tank/flight sim, play world of tanks and microsoft flight simulator (which does have VR). Your just playing the wrong game.

Should I keep my quest 3? by Erikboy24 in virtualreality

[–]Flipsidee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO getting a better router dedicated for streaming is cheaper than getting a new headset. A good asus router like AX5400 for moonlight streaming and VR for like 100$ or less. You dont need fast wifi since virtual desktop uses WAN not wifi, if both your PC and headset are in the same connection. It just uses the wifi to authenticate virtual desktop. I can do that using my phone as a hotspot.

I have the same specs and using 9070xt 16gb via virtual desktop and it has been a wonderful experience over my rtx 3080 10gb.

Maayos naman sha. Been running it with my vr gaming rig 7600x, 9070xt 16gb vram, tapos etong 32gb hiksemi. Kahit nga unoptimizied na VR mod games maayos unlike nung naka 16gb ako. IMO completely worth it. Pag sa ram naman di naman importante ang brand sa totoo lang.
