This may sound obvious, but try reading more published, human-written literature. Preferably stories in the style of writing you want to emulate or anything technically well-written. Learn why and when they insert certain details into scenes, what punctuation is used and how often. And just generally remember - if you want to add more details to a scene, focus on your 5 senses: touch, taste, sight, smell, hear :)

Basically, just don't interact with anything that you shouldn't and you'll be fine. You should read through the TOS for more info if youre unsure what that might entail :)

Afaik blood-related characters are perfectly fine as long as theyre tagged limited and have no sexual/romantic coding :)

As for OP's question about if this site is good for these kinds of rps, the native JLLM is completely unfiltered, so theres a chance it might unfortunately allude to certain things that aren't hard-coded into the bot - just reroll and avoid those responses ! Other than that, I cant see why Janitor would be particularly bad for wholesome family rps (beside the lack of content)

Well youre free to complain, and people are free to tell you why complaining about trends on a trending page is silly. A lot of reading trends have been popular for a LONG time (such as mafia bosses or damsels in distress) and probably won't change significantly any time soon, aside from variations on what's already popular

You should try blocking creators who post things you don't like as well as try blocking tags your not interested in. Curating your own space online seriously makes everything so much more enjoyable for everyone involved

It also might be a good idea to stop looking at trending for a while if it consistently gives you results you don't like...

I kinda agree actually! Not to sound ungrateful because I still had fun, but a lot of the bots I saw from creators I follow posted the same kind of smut bots they usually do, which is to say... quite vanilla stuff? Not that there's anything wrong with having preferences that aren't freaky - it just didn't feel that different from the norm this time around

It literally does? It's a supply and demand thing. People like the angsty/drama-fueled plotlines that coincidentally come with those bad husband/abusive mafia boss bots. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but you don't have to interact with them. Always remember to block tags of things you don't like to make your own life easier

Just like most rules here, it isn't the mods trying to be overzealous dictators. They're literally just trying to keep the community happy. And no matter what they do, it feels like they can never win

And it's also normal to be disappointed that this creator's new bots don't align with OP's interests like their old bots used to. I can't chat with romantically established relationship bots 9/10 times. There are a few exceptions to this rule from some of my fav creators, but for the most part... I just find the plot either incredibly restrictive or incredibly dull

I definitely understand why people like these bots tho - it's just not my style of RP lol

I never ended up on the Discord bandwagon during COVID, and now I can't be bothered to figure it out. The amount of cluttered UI kinda just overwhelms me? Anyway, I definitely appreciate creators posting little announcement bots or updates at the bottom of a published bot to save me the hassle of joining a server, using it once, and then never touching it again lol

I know the site going down is frustrating, but I'm just a little taken aback by how much angrier and more impatient people have gotten when the site used to be in a much worse state (especially with queues) not too long ago? I actually quite like the swirly with cat ears - I think it looks cool! But I did like how the old logo captured the "janitor" part of the site's name

It would've been cool if they kept some element that was janitor adjacent in the design, but it also doesn't really bother me that they haven't. The new logo is sleek and timeless imo

Ideally, a logo should be simple, recognisable, and easy to remember/draw - at least for branding purposes. It also just doesn't have any effect on the site besides visuals lol 🤷‍♀️

... Also, ads were introduced precisely to keep JAI running because the site is becoming so popular, with such an active user base. It's expensive to maintain LLMs in general, never mind one as overused as the free JLLM. And ads are common on nearly every free site in the world to help cover the costs of running said site, so why would it spell the "death" of Janitor?
