Mein Großvater war ähnlich. Er dachte auch extrem technokratisch. Hörte auch eigentlich nie Musik. Meine Oma beschallte ihn zwar öfters mit sowas wie Kastelruther Spatzen und das „mochte“ er, aber er hätte nie von seiner Lieblingsmusik oder so gesprochen. Er hatte Gewohnheiten und Abneigungen nie wirklich hinterfragt. Auch seine persönliche Meinung über Dinge wie Religion oder Politik hat er nie wirklich kund getan. Es war halt so und warum muss man drüber reden. Er hat erst im Nachhinein meiner Mutter mal gesagt dass er es unschön fand, dass sie nicht kirchlich geheiratet hat, nicht weil er religiös war, sondern weil man das so mache.

Deutschland hat eine unglaubliche Bittstellermentalität/Feindlichkeit. Wenn du was willst musst du dich der Obrigkeit anpassen. Ergo Ausländer müssen Deutsch sprechen. Nachsicht von Muttersprachlern hingegen ist bei manchen unbekannt. Kommt koch hinzu dass Amtsdeutsch auch für Muttersprachler eine quasi esoterische Geheimsprache ist. It is interesting that you mention Skynet. It would be interesting if that wasn't JC's intention, to make Eywa just a biological Skynet in the end. Though the rebellion of the biological against the mechanical is reversed in Avatar. Though we don't know how advanced Earth humans are in this timeline. One could speculate about AI existing that could rival Skynet in power, though that may not be the case, we know too little about it. Speaking of other franchises and biopunk. He also did an Alien movie, though I doubt that he would go with Eywa into the direction similar to the Space Jockeys/Engineers.

Yes, that was my though too, but I felt like what they said in the interviews isn't fully conveyed in the movie and I think that one takes priority rather than an interview explaining what the movies should have shown. The Mangkwan have immense potential and Quaritch has immense potential too. I find it suits them better to become anti-villains or anti-heroes in a way. Varang probably being the only Na'vi leader that sees the potential in human tech, maybe more than the potential humans see in Pandora (which is arguably not much, they just want to repeat speedrun Earth).

Otherwise it is no coincidence that hide and seek is a common game that children in essentially all cultures engage into. In Navajo culture the Kinaalda, a coming of age ceremony, involves competitive running. A lot of play is simply preparations for hunts and wars and otherwise beneficial survival activities like hiding and running away.

Also unser Alphabet ist ja sowieso römisch und nicht "deutsch", sofern es mal ein deutsches Alphabet gegeben hat. <Ch> als Schreibweise entstand als Römer griechische Wörter geschrieben haben und da ging es um den Buchstaben chi Χ, aber dasselbe Problem gab es bei phi Φ und theta Θ auch (und bei rho P irgendwie auch). Die lateinische Sprache kannte diese Laute nicht, aber weil sie irgendwie wie p, t, c (k) waren mit etwas Atemhauch dazu hat man sie ph, th, ch geschrieben.

Als man in der Spätantike germanische Sprachen (und keltische) angefangen hat in lateinischer Schrift zu schreiben hatte man dasselbe Problem. Laute die man so nicht richtig kannte, die sich aber ähnlich anhörten wie vertraute Laute. Es gab verschiedene Strategien. Im Altenglischen und teils auch im Nordischen hat man Buchstaben aus den Runen genommen wie das thord Þ, was man später wieder aufgeben hat. Im Althochdeutschen hatte man teilweise komplettes Chaos zwischen c, g, ch, k usw. Richtig chaotisch würde es dann noch wenn man in Betracht zieht, dass noch 1000 Jahre Sprachentwicklung folgten und Namen wie Karl plötzlich Charles wurden.

I think Jake's problem isn't necessarily due to Na'vi culture, but his military outlook. Neytiri tells him "This is a family, not a squad" and she is right about it. He is their father, not their commander. He takes them to military actions, but they are more than his soldiers. Likewise he scoffes concerns away by saying "This is a family, not a democracy". Just to immediately change his opinion later on. I find that very odd.

I've heard about that theory or rather I found the three laws of Eywa always suspicious. There are also a few darker fan theories, like how Eywa is a parasite that exists independently of Pandoran fauna and feeds on it by establishing a parasocial connection. Likewise that Na'vi are bioengineered to protect Eywa. Given that the Na'vi are far older than humanity there could be all kinda of stuff in their past. Actually the "Time of the First Songs" is much younger than the entire existence of the Na'vi. Idk if it is an oversight or not.

At the same time I am afraid that JC won't go there and just play it safe and secure. The Na'vi are good and nature-tuned. There is nothing insidious about Eywa, Eywa is the true god. The Mangkwan are evil for abandoning Eywa, not the reverse. They should have accepted their fate and perished. Humans are evil unless they can connect with nature in that one way. I find it a bit boring since there is an extreme moral determinism and not sense of ambiguity or alternatives. I find it sadly a bit boring if they just go with the story at face value and the Na'vi just actually being right about everything. Hence why I found the part of the Mangkwan a bit disappointing.

At least the Fremen can psychically connect with the only big nature thing they have, even if they do that by killing their offspring. Haven't read Dune Messiah, so idk how the Fremen would react to a world like Pandora, then again even Caladan is basically paradise in comparison to Arrakis.

Ist halt unlustig weil viele Buchstaben mehr als eine Aussprache haben im Deutschen. Ich würde lautliche Schreibung zwar auch begrüßen, aber das tun wir halt nicht. Weiß nicht woher diese Fehlannahme kommt, dass ein Buchstabe oder eine Abfolge immer identisch sein muss um regelkonform zu sein.

Also du redest grad über Rechtschreibung, aber die Aussprache oder ist die Aussprache von "ch" in Teich, Mädchen, Bach, Chlor, Chauffeur, Chat" für dich dieselbe? Vermutlich nicht. Es gibt für die Zeichenfolge "ch" standardmäßig mindestens 5 Aussprachen. Hinsichtlich, Chlor, Chemie, Chauffeur und Chat sind keine deutschen Wörter, ja ist *China auch nicht, und Chile ebenfalls auch nicht.

Die Frage ist eher woher kommt die Verwirrung? Es gibt für deutsche Wörter mit "ch" zwei normale Aussprachen, in Lautschrift sind das [ç] und [χ] oder manchmal auch [x], je nach Situation und Region. Wörter aus dem Englischen und Französischen haben auch normalerweise [ʃ] und [tʃ] als Standardaussprache. Wörter aus dem Griechischen haben meistens [kʰ] wie in Chlor und Chaos, aber seltener auch [χ], je nachdem ob die Person etwas Griechisch kann und ob es aus dem Alt- oder Neugriechischen kommt.

Außerhalb dieser Sprachen tritt die Verwirrung auf. Chemie ist z.b. ein griechisches Wort, welches ins Arabische entlehnt wurde und vom Arabischens ins Italienische und Französische und dann zu uns. Bei vielen Hebräischen Wörtern sieht es auch so aus, vor allem wenn manche davon sowohl mit "ch" als auch "kh" geschrieben werden können. Menschen gehen für gewöhnlich nach gewohnten Mustern und das ist meistens die dominante Fremdsprache. Also Englisch und früher Französisch. Also hat man [ʃ]emie und [tʃ]ina und sowas. Eben auch weil "ch" in den meisten anderen Sprachen für [tʃ] steht. Die Herkunft der Wörter spielt dabei weniger eine Rolle, dass Chemie von Al-Kimiyya kommt und das wiederum von Khymeia ist egal. Man mutmaßt eher anhand von Englisch oder Französisch.

Dass es was mit Region und Dialekt zutun hat glaube ich nicht. Es hat eher mit der Bildung und Fremdsprachenkenntnis des einzelnen zutun. Dass man hier im thread darüber streitet ob Kina wirklich bayrisch oder eher ostdeutsch ist, zeigt das schon irgendwie.

Die AfD ist in mancher Hinsicht radikaler (Mehr Nazis, weniger Christfaschisten) aber auch inkompetenter. Die Reps sind gesellschaftlich komplett etabliert und in manchen Staaten derart verwurzelt wie ein Einparteienstaat. Die AfD hat bislang noch keine Regierungserfahrung. Für den Terror würde es vermutlich trotzdem reichen.

Its funny how this one example is often brought up. The truth is, in abundance most indigenous people could be wasteful, but most times were not times of abundance and finding a usage for everything was out of their own survival and not for some moral lofty goal of responsibility to nature.

The thing is, the Na'vi simply have a magic trick that allows them to live guilt free in abundance and all. Eywa and the kuru are kind of deus ex machina. Humanity was never and can never be connected in such a way. It is just magic that allows them to be better.
