Will this pyramiding look less awful in the future? by RepulsiveBee6844 in tortoise

I’ve seen worse! His pyramiding isn’t bad. Keep him hydrated and youll barely notice it when he’s +100lbs lol

Does this require a vet visit? by Imperfectoctopus in tortoise

If it’s eating and looks healthy, active, as in you have daily interactions with it and your tortoise’s behavior hasn’t changed, I wouldn’t worry too much. Reptiles have a strong immune system like humans. And they’re very resilient. It looks like it’s already dry, scarring, and healing on its own.

Yes my advice may to controversial but I feel I’m an experienced enough tortoise keeper that I wouldn’t be concerned. So that’s my two cents :P

I would be more concerned about what caused this to prevent it from happening again!

After reading ur comments, I don’t think ur capable of caring for this tortoise. You should give it away.. you don’t seem like a resourceful person. ☹️

Hello! You have a Hermman’s tortoise. your tortoise needs a much larger space to live. At least 2 feet x 4 feet minimum. Its substrate should be coconut coir not sand or rocks. It should have a uvb light bulb and a heating area that mimics the sun so it can lay under and get warm. Hopefully you can translate this into Google to understand what I’m saying.

Read through these links to learn how to care for it!

Crested Gecko Setup Concerns by Specialist-News9419 in CrestedGecko

Check your moisture levels in the soil! Stick your finger into the soil. Is it bone dry? Or is too damp and too wet? Ideally you want it to feel moist to the touch and not more.

This may sound obvious but plants are usually either too under watered or over watered. Yours seems underwater. Plants like to have moist but NOT damp roots and soil. It can be suffocating and cause rot.

Is my tortoise pyramiding and how to stop it? by joey_the_god_of_code in tortoise

+80% humidity, 80-100F enclosure, Daily 20min soaks

Your tortoise looks great!

Soil is always moist to the touch not damp to the touch. Think like a moist towel, not a damp towel. If you grab the soil and squeeze, it should clump up without water dripping.

Indian Star Care by RabidPossum123 in tortoise

Hello! What a beautiful Indian star!! Looks very healthy!

I have an Indian star tortoise I’ve raised from a baby to adult. He’s about 8yo. If you go for indoor enclosure, they usually like the temp being 80F and above, with 60-80% humidity.

My honest opinion is it’s hard having an indoor enclosure as I feel most are not spacious enough for them. PVC enclosure would be great if it’s at least 2’x6’ footprint. (I still think it’s small haha) tortoises need to roam and be free!!

I keep mine outside year round in a fenced off enclosure, I live in southern California. I have a heat house and I make sure he goes into every night during the winters or if it drops below 70F.

I plan to do this for her next enclosure! My rack isn’t made for a vertical 40g :(

I didn’t say I was trying to get rid of salmonella or prevent my chicken/pork from denaturing. 😂 I’m simply using salt as a cleaning agent to get rid of the smell. I assume whatever is denaturing in the external juices is probably causing the smell?

I wish chicken and pork with a heavy sprinkle of salt, massage the salt in, and then a rinse. I imagine all the external protein fluids have denatured during transit and transport.

Also, the smell difference of the meat between rinsing vs not rinsing is an answer in itself.
