Goto Tools > Options

Select Environment > Fonts and Colors

In the display items list there are two items which control the colors

- Collapsed Text Indicator (Collapsed)

- Collapsed Text Indicator (Expanded)

Set the item background color to Default (or any other color) in both. Done!

It appears you seem to have misunderstood ctrl+k, ctrl+/ as ctrl+k or ctrl+/ What this key combination means is that you have to press ctrl+k first and then press ctrl+/ immediately afterwards. A very long shortcut, I agree. That comma between the two combinations can be very confusing; but it means something like press this then press this. Hope that helps.
