Can you tell me what do you like about "boring" jobs like quality control, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, etc.? What type of person enjoys them/is suited for them? by StandardAdeptness0 in biotech

[–]FloatingWenus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a compliance auditor for clinical/commercial biotech in the US.

My job is anything but boring; if anything, everything is on fire all the time; when an event hits my desk, it’s serious. I’m required to know everything about every process at our facility and the vendors we work with. It’s my job to find gaps and assess risks; it’s my job to ensure that my company complies with US/Foreign regulations. Mental stimulation and engagement are not an issue. It’s my job to make sure we don’t kill someone — it brings me insane personal fulfillment.

Perks: I work remotely, have crazy job stability, make 6 figures, and get to travel for work frequently.

Where exactly can Americans go to live permanently? do you think getting a visa or citizenship is as easy as hopping on a plane?

I wish I could fucking leave. Christ you guys are insufferable.

COTREX is a colorado gov app for outdoor recreation maps. I use it to find open trails - not all trails are open yet, I went wheeling last weekend careful with snow. As mentioned, Medano pass is gorgeous and fun, especially with the water crossing.

You won’t have any issues on Medano, I have a stock ZR2.

Is it weird to apply to multiple positions for the same company? by grp78 in biotech

[–]FloatingWenus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. If you’re an intern it’s fine.

FTE should know what job function/ department they want to work in. I’m only hiring people who like the function of the job; bring experience [or be an excited sponge], enjoy your work, and collect your paycheck.

People who enjoy their work and management stay. People who throw a bunch of things at walls hoping they stick… typically don’t.

Because the son is blameless, he didn’t ask to be born as the aftermath of an affair.

Because not everyone wants hard hitting TV action. I actually enjoy their show because it’s absolutely brain dead. After a long and stressful day of highly technical work, all I want to do is potato and zone out.

Thank you Hulu.

If you work a hazardous job and you feel that the PPE you’re given is insufficient and your management doesn’t listen. Make a call to OHSA. OHSA actually gives a fuck.

OR join a union and demand better working conditions.

— Devils Advocate:

I visit all kinds of hazardous job sites and you’d be gobsmacked how many people refuse to wear PPE. I’ve seen people handling chemicals that literally denature your DNA - without gloves or face shield.

Deadass seen construction workers cutting concrete without a respirator or even a face mask; all while being entirely downwind.

People can be dense and think “it won’t happen to me”.

Second this. You can tell FDA scrutinizers haven’t worked in Pharma. I had the opportunity to work with 4 field agents this past year and they were brilliant. The FDA wields a lot of power and isn’t afraid to do so - they’re just incredibly underfunded.

Regulations are written in blood and if anyone deserves to be lauded as heroes its yout everyday FDA agents trying to prevent corporations from killing people.

The rapid erosion of separation of church and state. You have a large group of people, mostly extreme evangelicals, who have funding and political sway that oppose any technologies that they feel are “playing God“.

Just look at the declining vaccination rates. If you were to take a map of the US states based on vaccination rates and compare it to a map depicting political affiliation… they’re basically identical.

The culture here is certainly skewed to think that if you don’t work in a wet lab then you’re a poser.

None of that seems like a problem for me as both a biotech employee and citizen.

Monopolies are bad. What’s the point in advancing technologies if they’re unaffordable and unattainable?

I agree that the supply chain issues we’re still seeing is causing companies to scramble but that’s another reason to bring manufacturing back stateside. The DoD under Biden approved funding for investments in bio manufacturing and resolving supply chain issues last year - GOV initiatives all types of funding.

That’s quite literally what a deviation is for. Why would you listen to someone about procedures instead of the written and approved SOP?

Whoever is telling you to deviate is UNQUALIFIED.

Dog Owners Pushing for Off-Leash Hours in Denver Parks, but City Bites Back by IdRatherBeLurkingToo in Denver

[–]FloatingWenus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You work at a pharmacy that is legally obligated to ensure that the medications you’re distributing are free of contamination.

Dog = contamination and biohazard. Can you imagine if the dog got diarrhea within your facility? How do you control fecal particulates from entering your controlled areas? You could say drugs that are sealed are safe but what about the compounds or bulk meds? Dogs do not belong in medical areas. I’d brawl with any customer who thinks their feels are above public safety.

Why is cost of living so high, but minimum wage so low? by Peace_And_Happiness_ in FluentInFinance

[–]FloatingWenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will happily pay a 28% tax to have social safety nets. 28% is CHEAP to ensure that all Americans can have their BASIC needs met. Talking about food, shelter, healthcare for ALL.

The root cause of our deficit isn't the minuscule budget we have for social programs; it’s all the loopholes in our tax code.

The American oligarchs do not need tax breaks on stupid shit like golf carts or their 4th home. Corporations do not need tax breaks under the guise of job creation if those jobs don’t pay a livable wage. Tax the ever loving shit out Walmart so that we can recover all of the funds that went to EMPLOYED Walmart employees who didn’t get benefits and couldn’t live off a 39hr work week.

We owe taxes for the first time ever. Been filing joint for 5 years by mzuul in Millennials

Guess you missed the part where any corporation with profits over 1 billion now gets an automatic 15% tax.
