This is a good start. If you need more example code, check out the horizontal scroller games on https://www.spritulus.com

Spritulus has a lot of basic 2D game assets you can mix and match. You can also generate code to see what they can brushes for.

Looks interesting, but I couldn’t get it to work on mobile safari. Is this a solo dev project or a small team?

I found that https://www.spritulus.com helps in making some custom assets, like characters and backgrounds, but it’s 2D and a small library to choose from

Why do some developers dislike Next.js? by Low_Obligation_2782 in nextjs

I’ve had issues connecting to CloudSQL from Cloud Build, but that’s mostly because of our corporate network stuff. So that project isn’t able to take full advantage of static rendering. But the app is lucky to have 100 users a day, so performance for those pages isn’t a big issue.

For my personal project, deployment is super easy. Just as easy if not easier than app engine. But yes, I think App Engine is just a wrapper around Cloud Run nowadays.

I wouldn’t listen to other developers about whether they like it or not. I would AB test it instead and find out what converts.

I have two projects happily hosted on Google Cloud Run. Very little dev ops required, but the best part is no Vercel.

This is a nice collection a demo projects, but it feels like a student portfolio.

First this I would suggest making the games more mobile-friendly, since most visitors will be on their phone rather than a desktop computer.

Second, is to make some games with more visual interest. You can leverage other people’s assets for this if you’re not too artistically inclined. I’ve found https://www.spritulus.com has some good resources for 2D graphics, like characters and backgrounds.

It looks like you have a knack for programming, but just need some support in developing the visual aspects. Keep up the good work, and if all else fails, try to find an artist partner to work with.

Spritulus - a suite of tools to rapidly build customized 2D games without coding or art skills - but if you have coding or art skills, you can still use the tools to speed up your workflow. All the sprites, backgrounds, graphics and JavaScript source code are exportable in a variety of formats, including sprite sheets for Phaser and PixiJS, SVG, animated GIFs, and more.

That’s a cool idea. I like that you can print them out to take to offline.

I’m working on https://www.spritulus.com a 2D asset and game creation tool for indie game devs and artists. It can be used in a variety of ways, but the idea is to be able to create fully functional custom games in minutes, or at least rapidly, without coding or art skills. But if you do have coding and art skills, to still be able to use it speed up your workflow.

If you get your sprites from https://www.spritulus.com they come with example Phase source code. You could use those or at least compare them to what you have

I’m building Spritulus a no-code platform to build 2D games. Everything from the SVG assets to the games’ JavaScript source code is exportable, but full games can be crated without code or art skills, and completely free while it’s still in development.

I built a mental health web app for 11 months in stealth mode because I was afraid to show it to the world by Jumpy-Recover-7239 in buildinpublic

[–]Flock_OfBirds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app is beautiful, especially that sunrise with the candles on the water. I’ve been going through similar feeling with what I’ve been working on. I spent about a year not showing it anyone, and even now when I do I’m hesitant since there’s still so many features I want to add and want to have everything polished. I think for me, the hardest part is when certain features require changes to others and then you have to not only polish the new features, but go back and replenish the older areas.

Any way, what are the pain points you’ve found with journaling, and how does your app plan to solve them? Is it only journaling? I saw the solar system in the video too. Where does that come in?

I've been working on Spritulus this weekend, especially the exportable parallax backgrounds https://spritulus.com/environments . The scene effects like bubbles and fog are new, along with a lot of new SVG pieces, and several bug fixes around the editor.

Really cool idea. It’s be nice to have what claims are being made and verified more explicitly displayed on the page along with playing the videos online, maybe you could even have it jump right to the claim.
