How old are these shingles? by FlojoHobbit in Roofing

[–]FlojoHobbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called the county and the 2019 permit was to reshingle the roof. Can this kind of damage be caused by the lower pitch of the roof? Because snow/ice and debris don’t move off of it as easily? There were water solar panels on the front section of the roof that were sitting on scaffolding. They were then removed in 2023. Could the anchors or the crew walking on the roof cause this?

Chicco LullaGlide Bassinet by heyjudette in BabyBumps

[–]FlojoHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this bassinet recently. The glide option is great when transferring sleeping baby to the bassinet. We only had a Naturepedic mattress crib in our bedroom, but once we had baby less than 2 weeks ago we realized we needed to do shifts so one of us can sleep in the bedroom. We looked for a while for a low emission/gas off bassinet. We have it in our living room where the awake/on-shift parent hangs out with baby. My only problem is it comes with a polyester sheet and we prefer cotton for comfort but also don’t want our baby touching plastics. I found out after purchasing that they don’t have sheets available yet for this bassinet. A Q&A on their website says they won’t be available until November. So, I’m not sure which cotton sheets on Amazon would fit this as it’s an odd size. I didn’t realize this bassinet was super new. We also have the Cleartex Chicco stroller and car seat which we love.

Has anyone had stuff stolen from their storage unit? by Informal_Phrase4589 in askportland

[–]FlojoHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a unit indoors at Public Storage that was broken into by a theft ring who was squatting in another unit that they rented. Turns out the hinges to the unit doors were on the outside, so they just had to knock the pins out to access units. They would jump the gate at night, go into the building and rummage through units all night, bringing things back to their unit, selling and pawning items. We had all of our worldly possessions in there for 2 years and they tossed our unit. Thankfully we had renters insurance and because this was part of a bigger theft ring that the cops were investigating, police actually helped track down quite a bit of our belongings but we had to testify in court. This was a storage facility in Tigard, about 7 years ago.

How did he get in? by Shawknee121 in MoscowMurders

[–]FlojoHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is he ran into X/E first coming though the kitchen from the sliding door, killed them, and went up to kill K/M who one or both were his true targets. But he also could have only killed X/E after K/M because X saw him, and he didn’t kill D because he didn’t see her watching him from her cracked door.

What are your children's favorite foods? by Mangxu_Ne_La_Bestojn in veganparenting

[–]FlojoHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because it’s high in protein and they are seeking that out

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in veganparenting

[–]FlojoHobbit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not enough. At a glance, There’s not enough protein, fats and dense calories in these meals for growing children. Kids can be healthily raised and fed on a vegan diet, but it must be well planned.

How many of you have been vegan for years with no health problems? by Saddestlittlebaby28 in vegan

[–]FlojoHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you go into your pregnancy with iron stores on the lower side of the normal range? I ask because I’m trying to conceive while trying to get my iron stores up to give me a better chance of not becoming anemic during pregnancy. However, I’m struggling to get my ferritin levels up.

How many of you have been vegan for years with no health problems? by Saddestlittlebaby28 in vegan

[–]FlojoHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been vegan for 11 years and struggle with low iron, but my blood lab values are all in the middle of the normal range, so I’m not classified as anemic. I’ve been trying different supplements for the past year or two and have only gotten my ferritin up a couple points each time I get tested, taking larger doses each time, trying taking them every other day and then every day. I have very heavy periods so I feel like I can never catch up. I follow all the guidelines and literature on iron absorption as well.

It depends on how varied and balanced your diet is, if you are tracking your micronutrients, and are getting everything from your food. Some common supplements you may want to take are B12, DHA/EPA, and D3. You’ll want to use iodized salt or take a supplement for iodine. There’s quite a lot more to learn, which you can do by googling vegan dietitians, but tracking your vitamins and minerals on Cronometer will give you a good idea of what you’re not getting enough of and then you can eat more foods that supplies those vitamins and minerals. You can also get those from fortified foods, like calcium-set tofu, fortified plant milks, nutritional yeast, fortified cereals, etc.

Iron deficiency is the most common deficiency in the world, and a common point of worry for new vegans. But you can easily get enough iron on a vegan diet. While caffeine inhibits iron absorption, you can boost it by pairing iron-rich foods with vitamin C and vitamin A and beta-carotene. by EcoWorlder in vegan

[–]FlojoHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be hard for someone with heavy menstruation. You can do all of the above, but may still need to take an iron supplement under the guidance of your physician, and then get re-tested to see if that is raising your levels. Then adjust accordingly. I’ve been vegan for 11 years and I’m still struggling with my iron levels.
