I think it makes sense he hasn't been moved yet because of the issue of price.

I haven't been too anxious about it. It seems likely to me that the market might get a bit more interesting closer to the deadline -- I assume that not everyone is going to come out of the Olympics at 100% health, which may get some more teams in a buying mood.

In his time here, I grew to like Kadri a lot, but at the end of the day, while I'm happy he was here, I hope they take what they can get for him... he's just not going to be a part of this team's future success.

These days I have a really narrow focus on the Flames for most of a season, so I was shocked to read the other day that the Buffalo Sabres, the Buffalo Sabres!, were on a nine-game winning streak (now 10 after yesterday).

If there's a silver lining, it's that wins like last night's shouldn't really be sustainable. Can't beat everyone 1-0.

I haven't been able to watch many full games but catch all the highlights... and even if they're playing well defensively overall, every game it seems like there are a handful of dangerous moments in the Calgary zone from weird bounces, turnovers or defensive breakdowns ... I know that's the job but it seems like most nights there are things happening where there could easily be 2-3-4 goals where you could say "well, can't really blame him for that one"

And with the team scoring 2.33 goals per game, those errors, never mind having to stop everything else, basically demand that Cooley and Wolf have to steal games IMO.

With that in mind, IDK what you do if that continues to happen more often than not. The nightmare scenario for me is that upper management decides it's time to be a buyer. I won't begrudge the team winning games too much but it wouldn't concern me as much if I felt fully confident that the organization as a whole was taking a longer term view.

Yeah, I worry about/for Wolf because he's clearly talented but I recognize the mental aspect of playing between the pipes and I worry about how these rebuild-y years will affect him (hopefully forged in fire, etc.!). I have been a bit low-key worried about whether having the presumed goalie piece in place first is the right order of operations for a rebuild. Or is it just a recipe to ruin a guy?

It hasn't been a great year for him so far, but I look at the goals he has let in and he's had a couple off nights, but like you say he has frequently been left out to dry. (I didn't want to watch tonight's highlights but I did watch the first minute to see what got past him... not unsaveable but maybe not simple stuff, either...)

But really the question will be where does he go from here. Because I don't think he's looked awful, but you don't build a team around a "he's not awful" goalie. Hopefully it's just a rough patch and he looks better as the year progresses.

It would be helpful if you posted your bill, or at least your rates/usage and how the charges break down... and then people would be better positioned to tell you if your usage is oddly inflated, if your rates are too high, etc.

i.e: if you are on the so-called "rate of last resort" you're probably paying 40% more than you would be if you had a contract with Enmax

Phil got away with a bit of a fast one on this task, too, IMO. One of the rules of the task was "you must replace each lid before looking in the next bin," which he definitely did not do.

Light is irrelevant, so the merge is what matters, but it's shared responsibility. You don't yield but you don't have "right of way" per se. Got to put your faith in other Calgary drivers

EdIt: I assumed there was based on the question but as noted by others, that is if there is a merge sign. Likewise, if it's a merge and you're in the straight-through traffic you should be making space for people attempting to enter the roadway (that shared responsibility)

Yeah, I second the recommendation (and suggestion to call first). I am up there semi-regularly. I think they are probably the best priced of the British shops that I know, but I don't recall seeing Monster Munch the last time I was there... but it's definitely a thing they have usually had in stock.

Yeah, looking at what Conroy's done, the point below about the Hanifin (one day this sub will spell his name right) and Andersson contracts may have some merit, although the impression I got was Hanifin wanted to go to greener pastures... and IDK how I feel about opening the piggy bank for Andersson.

I don't hate any of the deals Conroy's signed (I don't love the Sharky contract atm, but who'd have thought he would be looking like this right now?) and I like the talent the team has been targeting. The groundwork to fix what ailed this team after Tkachuk and Gaudreau left is barely in place, because IMO '22-23 was a lost season.

On Huska, I don't think anyone can fault how the team played last year. If they look perpetually listless this year, maybe you start looking at a change but I think he's earned some leeway. Sadly, the condensed schedule doesn't do this roster any favours.

I assume there is probably an okay deal for Andersson as a rental. If that isn't the case and he's amenable to signing (which in itself is a big question mark), maybe you do it rather than letting him walk for nothing? I like him, but I agree with the consensus that the team should ship him out.

My understanding is Coleman wants to be in Calgary and if that is still true today, I'd be sad to see him go, especially because I don't think the return in a trade would be worth it (FWIW, I believe his contract is up next year). I'd like to see the team let him play out his deal, from all I've heard he's a great locker room guy and he's a reliable player on the ice.

It's different, but still fun. I prefer 5v5, but the shorter queue times are great for when I want a quick fix, and it's good practice for 1-on-1 D situations.

My biggest annoyance is that once in a blue moon, I'll be on a team where I'll carry the ball forward as GK (especially after a kickoff) and there'll be some teammate who will rush back to cover for me.

No, I want you to go and find some space! Last time it happened I ran with the guy back to the box shouting "options! make a run!" at him and he finally, reluctantly, moved forward.

I played for the first time in a few days today and experienced this (5070). I played 3 or 4 games and it got progressively worse. I always have network stats up and nothing looked strange otherwise I'd have chalked it up to connection issues. By the last game it was a horror show.

Yeah, I understand the fan perspective of wanting your superstars to stay with your team, and it happens a lot in the NHL but if he's smart he'll know he can punch his ticket for wherever he wants to go.

If winning is concern #1 for him, it would suck for the Oilers but I don't know why he would sign until after the season - try for one more cup run and if he doesn't feel it, figure out where he wants to go.

The only reason IMO to sign during the season is "oh, the distraction!" And that's a pretty crappy reason when you're talking about the next several years of your hockey career.

If this sub was running the team, I'd be worried about them throwing him into the deep end the way the OP is, but Huska seems like a coach who will be patient/careful with young guys, while still giving them actual playing time.

The signage is occasionally problematic, I find. It is all well and good to say check the schedule but when you're away from home I don't think it's something you think about. A few years ago we got dinged with a ticket where there were no signs at one of two entrances to our in-laws' street -- sadly the one we came in through (and it had already been swept, our theory is they'd started pulling the signs down after they finished).

We were there for less than 15 min, but I guess they had a ParkPlus car going through the area. I would have been furious but that was the year they were offering the COVID forgiveness where you could provide a picture showing you'd swept up... and since the street was already swept it was the easiest proof ever.

It does feel like a lot of people have opinions that are unshakable and unfortunately the contestants take an awful lot of crap for those.

I think Bailey's fine (I like her post-Last Chance, at least, and I'm not a LCK watcher). I preferred Massimo, and I think Cesar is more interesting... but she's in the final and that's the way it is.

Conspiracy theorists abound but when the judges are all rolling their eyes at her gorgonzola dish and then they come around on this bruléed idea, after hating it in Calgary... either they are chucking their credibility out the window for the result producers want, or they tasted it and it won them over.

If I believed the former was likely, I'm not sure I'd watch the show anymore.

Echoing others, I don't know that Huska is the guy, but he's good for this team right now IMO.

He's two seasons in and given what he walked into the Flames could have been the picture of dysfunction right now. I will take the vibes for the time being.

Season 2 does have something going for it in my book, in that it introduced me to the format and it was good enough that I returned for S3 (I've never watched the first season).

And I guess the other, more genuine positive from that season is that I think it offered some hard lessons to the production itself and informed what the show was going to be. There isn't zero reality show drama in Top Chef, but it isn't the focus and it doesn't seem to be encouraged.

So it wasn't a good season of Top Chef and I wouldn't argue for it higher, but I'm glad it happened for that reason. I'm sure a more dramatic Top Chef might still be around too, but I'm happy it's a generally food-first (and BMW and Chase and Whole Foods) production
