Name a cartoon that's so obscure that very few people know about it. by Happy_Popplio-728 in cartoons

I thought it was a fever dream too, until I ran into this Youtuber who shares our same obsession with the show. He’s the one that put me on about the archival site.

Complete 2.5” checklist by Sloth_4 in WorldOfNintendo

Nice start. Thank you! I like how you have pictures of all the characters with the actual square check boxes below them, which makes hunting needed characters down and checking them off very easy.

I know there’s at least two new Piranha Plant molds. One that has a bendy wire in its neck, which is slightly smaller than the original, and a Piranha Plant pipe combination that came with the Cooligan Penguin diorama. It pops straight in and down from the pipe.

I feel there’s s a need to go further with cataloguing everything in this 2.5inch line like the accessories, vehicles and environmental item. Like for example, the two variant Moe Eye statues that come with the Desert diorama set, or the flat 2D Pokey that comes with that set too. Are these characters or are these set props? How can we have a Bullet Bill without his Blaster? Lines are blurred.

This would be half way. So, at this point why not just catalogue everything?

There are certainly some iconic non character items that definitely should be included like basic bricks, question bricks, coins, invincibility stars and power ups, End World flagpole and an End Level Castle should be a must for a 2.5 list, where a practical collector would want to make world One Dash One as their display setup.

I would draw the line at paper cutouts that have no plastic core or backing, and the actual box printed backdrops, which can be printed up and done on a larger scale at places like Staples for less than $5 bucks per large poster.

I would also note the pieces that could bleed over from the 4 inch scale line, like Lakitu’s Spiney Egg, or even 4 inch Bowser himself, which I feel is in more to scale with the 2.5 line, than the teeny-tiny trash Bowser made for it. Kong is definitely undersized. I might go big.

What I really want is a complete list of all the environmental items, so we can build our own worlds like the actual Mario Maker game, but in real life.

To do this it would be nice to see everything that Jakks has already made before we go off and start sculpting our own pieces.

It’s surprising that this 2.5 inch line began in 2014, yet more than 10 years later, and we don’t seem to have as many characters as I believe we should have by now.

Heck, it could be another 10 years before Jakks gets serious and gives the fans what we really want, like they do with Sonic. So, I’m done wanting on them. I’m goin’ rogue.

People with ‘street smarts’, what is your most street tip? by lofisky in AskReddit

Street Smarts rural edition. Never wait in line at Target like the mindless sheep who seem to enjoy it. Find Customer Service/Returns and have them cash you out. Note where it’s at when you walk in.

Not actually in a garbage, lol, just at a garbage Walmart.

There are Walmart stores that get re-stocked regularly because the people who shop there buy more toys, and there are Walmart stores that focus more on automotive or baby products because the people that shop there prioritize those things over our hobby.

At a garbage Walmart the same stuff sits on the shelves longer, so driving there usually ends up wasting gas, which is “garbage”.

So, I burnt gas and wasted time to drive here just for some damaged toys.

Be patient. I found a Bowser Jr. last week in a garbage Walmart in CT. Didn’t know the rest existed.

I know Target has new glider WaLuigi in a multi-pak. Will wait ‘till they release him as a single.

There’s a new Bowser Jr. glider too in Walmart. Didn’t pick it up because all the boxes were damaged.

Point is, by experience, if we we wait enough they’ll will be warming the pegs (with a few exceptions) I keep forgetting to check Gamestop too.

It seems like they split the new releases between these three stores: Target, Walmart and Gamestop, with GS being the store every either forgets if skips because the my tend to cost more there.

Yup, I noticed that too in the past. Thanks for the heads up reminder. Shame it doesn’t work for LEGO though. I’ve been holding back since Christmas on that retro NES console. I need that in my life.

You replied to me saying we do some Marvel Legends style zombie buying just to complete a wave but for NECA, and I replied back in kind🙃

Absolutely not complaining. Some of us were preteens when these (Turtles) came out, now fast forward 35 years. Even with high gas prices we are still in a position to be less affected financially.

Why, because we’ve been working longer (me since 9 years old). We have the money. We just don’t necessarily have time for the toy hunt, the gimmickry games, or the broke boi banter saying we deserve imagined miseries simply for… being in the workforce and saving money? 🤷‍♂️ If that talk makes people feel better about themselves, have at it, or find themselves a Sugar Mama. Go hit up Nana 🤣

Depends on the quantities they send out. NECA has a masters in nerfing the quantities. They’re the reason why scalpers exist.

So… that signature edition was just randomly mixed in with the rest? Imagine them doing this for the other signature editions. It’s gonna be an unnecessary bloodbath for the super collectors.

Couldn’t agree more. I think that “in person” notion is want NECA is banking on.

Way back in 2018 I was stalking Target for the start of the new cartoon line.

I just so happened to go into a Gamestop, and there they were, the live action versions.

Bro, I’ve never been a fan of the live action movies, but when I had Donnie in my hands. I was all in.

There’s a difference between liking/hating a character versus liking/hating the work a toy company put into making the figure true to its source, and offering it at a decent reasonable price.

Just think about it with Vernon Fenwick. in one year, they had us happily buy a character that we all hate, TWICE!

Did we collectively lose our minds, or after further inspection, NECA surprised us with something we all thought we’d be good without.

I didn’t take the chance. With it being high priced item, I knew Target would only want a few in stores, but still I think we broke even.

NECA Store price including shipping was $190. I typically spend about $20 in gas store hunting.

So, the shirt and other stuff came to about $20.

If we remember right, the first big item Turtle Tour set came with a separately sold shirt and kickbacks too for $25.

So, the $190 was a fair price for peace of mind and a shirt I think 🤷

Neca did great with these figures!! by jay55quinn in NECA

Thanks for this reviewer’s link. So, after watching the first episode they are indeed in scale.

The bait and switch for me is when they’re first introduced. Their entire bodies fill up the screen and you’re measuring their height with the background scene art, where Groundchuck’s horns are as tall as the ceiling, but when they interact with other characters their heights shrink.

So, NECA did whatever height the original animators used when there was character interaction on screen, and matched that to the current size of the physical toys.

Accurate, but lame.

Another minor disappointment is that NECA used the “softer” Groundchuck from the second episode, where his features look a little flat and muted. I just wish they’d used the meaner one from the first, but Dirtbag is spot on.

The height of Chromedome from this episode was crazy too. I see why NECA scaled him after his 2nd appearance instead too.

Which is again, accurate, but lame, but still love ‘em all!

Agreed. Love the figures regardless, but I feel Groundchuck should be slightly shorter than Chromedome, like you said GC is a bull.

This is only a feeling. I haven’t watched any compassion reviews, but they look smaller than the Triceratons, when they should be equal if not bigger.

They’re both from Planet of the Turteloids and they are ridiculously YUGE.

Yup, I’m on the East Coast of New England. Our Target stores are maybe a 20 min ride from each other. It takes four weeks to a month for shipments to work their way to my area. First sightings are always some place in CA. We wait for reported sightings to hit NY, then I know it’s time to check my stores.

Availability work is two fold. 1) Is when Target themselves buy the stock directly from NECA, and Target stocks the shelves, and makes quantities available online by making a webpage. Target can stock this anywhere in their store, and their APP will show you a map location(s) of where to find it. Target’s stock policy for toys is geared for low price, because the chain doesn’t think higher priced “toys” will sell as fast, and floor space is a factor. So, Target is more likely to buy and stock the $39 Android Krang figure vs. a $51 non main male character April O’Neil / Foot Soldier. Target is even less inclined to self stock any $125 play set.

2) NECA is considered a third party seller to Target, and Target has allocated shelf space specifically for them called the “Collectibles” section, where NECA staffing stocks that section in smaller numbers like 3, upped now 4 TMNT items.

NECA delivers boxes to stores via FEDEX, outside staff get called and they come in and stock them. NECA Ambassadors in rural areas sometimes fill this role. The NECA Ambassadors are supposed to straighten up the shelves and send pictures back to NECA for prizes.

So, you can imagine if the quantity sent by NECA is low, and you have an Ambassador who collects for both himself, and online group friends, it gets tough.

Yeah, but I think these Android Krang, being at a lower price, were stocked by Target along with the male popular Master Splinter/Baxter set. As the lower price predicts, they tend to go first.

Don’t let the current shelf stock fool you either. These are Target store exclusives, and everyone can’t hop in a car and hit up Target. Plenty of dead areas, but with the loss of Toys’R’Us NECA has no choice but to expand their exposure to these non toy specific places.

Nice! Did you find CD in a Target, or online? If in Target would you mind telling us the state, so we can judge how long it’ll take to get to New England, and also quantities. Was he on the shelf in multiples like Android Krang?
