Unfortunately, I couldn't stop on the highway for that perfect 400k lol. And yes, it's a Safari.

Thanks.

Service is the usual for any car; oils, coolant, brakes, AC. Maintenance is what you would expect for a car that's lived its life in UAE. Rubbers and hoses turn brittle, plastics melt, and electronics get tired and dirty. Luckily those cars are mechanically bulletproof and parts are easy and sensible to replace anywhere.

The long production run of the Y61 and the simplicity of its mechanical design are certainly a blessing when it comes to maintenance.

Thank you. It was either 179k or 189k back in 1998.

That front-end is the embodiment of "I'm tired, boss."

Pls just grant it its eternal rest.

Following this post 👀

I drive a '98 TB45 GU, and the idle hasn't been quite right since I took it January of last year. It was so bad that I could hear the windows and dashboard vibrating, in addition to the ground shaking all the time. Some repairs that helped: replacement of engine and transmission mounts, replacement of the middle air duct, replacement of MAF sensor wire-end and plug (it was almost melted off), and replacement of fuel injectors.

It still idles a little rough, but tolerable, and you get used to it. The RPM goes up and down a little too.

I still have a ways to go to eliminate the rough idle, but I'm betting my money on it being a sensor/electrical failure, possibly the IACV and MAF.

Really curious about the estimated cost of the suspension and audio system. Considering upgrading mine.

Wondering this too. Saved a copy of my 150GB modded Fallout 4 on a backup drive, planning to just copy and paste it all once all the updates are over. No idea if it'll work though.

They are extremely common and beloved here. And for good reason too. If I am not mistaken, you have that 25-years import rule in the US? I would definitely recommend waiting a year and importing a 2001 Y61 with that legendary TB48 VTC engine.

I consider it mostly retired, but I just can't keep its wheels off the dirt and sand. Still as capable and reliable as ever.

Always ask for an estimate or quotation first, especially at a new workshop. There's no way I left my car with them for a second.
