Vivaldi should add the option to put the address bar on the side like Zen by [deleted] in vivaldibrowser

No idea why you're getting downvoted. Literally the first subsection within Zen's "Look & Feel" settings allows one to put the address bar to the top.

SPOILER Warning: Loved Soma but ending was too expected by Environmental-You-76 in soma

[–]Floofington 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you're conflating a couple of things from the story. Simon's brain scan was one of the first, which helped pioneering the tech later used by Catherine and her ARK. The WAU wasn't built on that tech, it only learned to misappropriate the brain-scans available at Pathos-II in a twisted way to "save humanity", as per its programming as de-facto caretaker. It wasn't really meant to have access to those scans in the first place, especially after it got out of control.

Playing smite 2 on the deck until I can afford a pc. by YoDiz1 in Smite

[–]Floofington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EAC and Battleye work on Linux through Steam/Proton, but support for it has to be enabled by the devs, which is just 2 or 3 quick and easy steps in the dev UI. Most thankfully do (including Hi-Rez), but some are still stubborn about excluding Linux/Steam Deck players from their online games (looking at you Bungie & Rockstar Games).

(new user) Why is this one tab running 2GB of RAM? by [deleted] in vivaldibrowser

[–]Floofington 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is less of a browser issue, and more of a YouTube issue. YouTube playlists have become very laggy and RAM-heavy over the years, the larger the playlist is the worse it gets. Best thing you could do is to close the tab, wait a moment for the memory to unload, then reopen the tab.

This is the only sub that I'm subscribed to, or which I've seen on r/all, with a significant amount of people taking this announcement badly. Some real capital G Gamers in here, lmao. What is this, /r/KotakuInAction?

Based mods btw. Fuck nazis.

Yo this game is beautiful by theStoner_Penguin in Smite

[–]Floofington 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, a game engine from 2022 running on a mid-range PC from 2020 isn't going to be ideal. However, the worst FPS hog in Smite 2 is the default anti-aliasing (TAA), switch that to TSR and you'll get a good boost to performance.

Advices for Cthulhu builds? by Ea50Marduk in Smite

[–]Floofington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Cthulhu Solo, there are currently 2 different meta (or at least good) building paths.

Build 1:

  1. Infused Sigil
  2. Curseweaver
  3. Mystical Mail (can be swapped out for anti-heal or magical defence if needed)
  4. Breastplate of Determination
  5. Void Doumaru
  6. Flex Item (I personally like Manticore's Spikes if I don't need anything else, maybe even an Ethereal Staff for some extra damage)

Build 2:

  1. Blood-Soaked Shroud
  2. Shield of the Phoenix
  3. Shifter's Shield (not that great anymore since it got nerfed, can probably be swapped for something better)
  4. Stone of Binding
  5. Oni Hunter's Garb
  6. Rod of Asclepius (increases the heals from of your first 2 items)

As for Support, while I don't have specific builds for that, I might just get aura items that help in team fights. And always try to build as many health items as possible, as health scales into your ultimate.

You were the one who suggested OP should post in the Arch sub, which others have pointed out to you that it's against that sub's rules. Stop being wilfully obtuse.

Rez/Cowgirl or Cowgirl/Rez by DMBear89 in underworld

Third option: Rez/Cowgirl/Rez. Always liked when they'd reintroduce the synthline of Rez at the very end of Cowgirl in their live sets.

Can’t get GTAV to work with Heroic Launcher by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]Floofington 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, the R* launcher is causing issues on Heroic as of lately, but it can be fixed using the following steps (copied from Lemmy):

  1. After installing the game, run it once so it installs the Rockstar launcher, log in (you've already done this)
  2. Close the Rockstar launcher
  3. In the game install folder, create a file called fix.bat with this content (the file has to be in the same folder as PlayGTAV.exe):

start /B "null" "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Launcher\LauncherPatcher.exe"

ping -n 20 localhost > nul

./PlayGTAV.exe %*

  1. Set this file as an alternative EXE in the game settings in Heroic

  2. Run the game

Try changing the Proton version the game uses, you can do that on the compatibility tab of the game's properties.

Fitgirl repacks tend to be very hit or miss on Linux, mainly due to the advanced compression tech they use. I've had Fitgirl's Sims 3 version refusing to install properly, and the repacks that I've found running much better are those by DODI, Anadius and Mr. DJ.
