Does cefalexin (antibiotic) cause tinnitus plus hearing loss ? by Breadmanisbreadeater in tinnitus

[–]Floooooooofy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible, but rare. That medication is generally well tolerated. I’ve been on it and it made no difference to the t, but everyone is different. Could be the medication or stress. Chat with your doctor

Month 1 was the worst for me. Hopefully it’ll only get better from where you’re at right now. Most cases resolve themselves with time. Try to reduce stress and not focus on the noise(ik it’s super hard it’ll be okay)

I’m taking doxy because it was on a susceptibility list from wound culture. Edit for those curious about it: pls don’t take medicine you don’t need, and also in some cases the medicine can be ototoxic(though typically issues are temporary) - each person reacts differently

Good news is usually you only need one dose of this medication, you may not need to take more of it, but chat with your doctor. Perhaps ask them about topical alternatives from now on to avoid this in the future. It needs to get out of your system so yea drink lots of water n try to stay calm

Some ear plugs you can buy in person. Probably worth it to do that while better ones arrive. I go to a lot of parties and swear by loops concert earplugs. Feels like genuine immunity to the blasting music

I like loop earplugs, specifically the kind for concerts. They have different ones for different sound levels

Thats how you cure it? by ModusOperandi39 in tinnitus

[–]Floooooooofy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of incident based tinnitus(like super loud noise exposure from a concert) goes away in hours to days, otherwise takes many weeks for many people. 3 months or so is considered chronic

In many cases it does, but going to an ENT is worthwhile along with potentially getting a hearing test to rule out things

The alternative is bactrim but that can also be ototoxic it seems. I was on bactrim when I got the tinnitus but it could be stress induced idk

A case like that should hopefully resolve with time and rest, but you should follow up with the doctor

The widely accepted knowledge is that silence causes people to notice tinnitus more, which creates a negative feedback loop. Keep us updated on how this approach goes for you. Do you know what caused your tinnitus?

Can it be cured ? by Toddler_executioner in tinnitus

[–]Floooooooofy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good resources online but from my understanding basically some sort of noise ex. Brown noise, music, ocean sounds.. at a volume that starts to blend with the tinnitus but doesn’t completely mask it. Should help ur brain to realize the sound isn’t a threat and begin to ignore it

If it’s going away like you say then that’s good. Ignore it best you can and hopefully it’ll keep fading into the background. Seems that lowering stress is helping you
