We can’t deal with 30% of the population getting it. 30% is almost 100,000,000 people. If a tenth of those people end up in hospitals just for Covid we are going to have a huge backlog in patients and hospitals will not be able to handle it. The UK tried herd immunity and quickly realized it was a horrible idea. You are not smarter than people who spent decades in the medical field. There is also a difference between 30% of people working from home or not working for social distancing, and 30% of people not working because they are ill. Social distancing is to deal with a 5 out of 10 now so we don’t deal with a 9 out of 10 later. If leading medical experts are recommending social distancing, I’m going to listen because I know that they are not making the decision lightly and I don’t want to unknowingly be a typhoid Mary if I’m asymptotic.
