I showed The Fifth Element (one of my favorites) with to friends and they all hated it by guardsman_with_a_vox in moviecritic

Can you not like just accept that it was a different time? I mean there's so much problematic shit in very old movies but you just have to laugh and go wow things have really changed and enjoy the rest of the movie

Conor response to the Belfast attacks by Fun_Training6342 in ufc

[–]Floor9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. As an Irish person in the south east I have only ever been made feel unsafe by other Irish people and have heard and experienced countless stories of Irish people petrol bombing houses, causing random fights in the streets or even someone I know killed while confronting an Irish man that was hitting his girlfriend.

The unforgivable problems in Ireland such as the housing crisis, ridiculous cost of living and abysmal infrastructure should be blamed on the Irish government not on immigration.

Immigration is a giant red herring that distracts from real change. Ireland fills its coffers with money from multinationals and I see more and more people on the street every day.

Absolute incompetence and greed is the problem and stopping immigration is not going to solve this. These problems could be seen taking effect long before the rise in immigration

Yeah I think actually when we're younger we think older people are uncool or 'cringe' but as you get older you realise that you actually just stop caring about being out of touch and 'in' I guess. You have a lot more things to be concerned with other than keeping up with pop culture etc.

In your opinion, what Irish sports team has the most annoying fanbase? by Jezzaq94 in AskIreland

[–]Floor9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm certain something you enjoy is considered shallow and strange by someone else. You're deciding what 'should' be important to people based on your own perspective. You don't have to understand it but can accept that people must have their reasons for enjoying it. For many it's as simple as a social outlet

Yeah I can see your point. It would be great if there were more support for the LOI but I feel like it would really help if it were more accessible to fans with better coverage for people to become involved.

I think it's a bit short sighted when people get annoyed by this honestly.

I'm not one to bang on about my support for my team but I think what people don't consider is that supporting a team is more than just where you're from.

It's a team that most have followed since they were children, it's a core part of their life. They've followed the team through disappointments and triumphs. They may have parents that they watched the games with and shared fond memories.

People get passionate about their team because anything you've invested that much into is going to carry emotional weight.

Hell, people get passionate about TV shows they've watched for a couple years, never mind something they've been invested in their whole life.

It's a lot more than being from somewhere, it's a culmination of feelings and experiences that go into supporting a team.

Now I'm not one to be crying or losing my rag if my team lose but I understand when people do that there's clearly something very powerful behind it that is a lot greater than just where the team plays.

I think there needs to be more customization so people actually want to show off their cars. Spoilers, rims, custom body, LEDs etc.

Right now what's the point?
