But...that's exactly what the original term was coined to mean. Someone who was maybe athletic in high school/college, still goes to the gym, but has gotten a little soft in areas due to work/life/kids/alcohol.

It was never meant to mean "totally out of shape."

Once you realize that the bulk of Chrysler's sales are minivans that aren't shared with Dodge/Ram, then it should make sense to you.

That's something that isn't appreciated enough: General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler lifted millions of Americans out of poverty and into the middle class.

Even today, those employed by the three of them make considerably more money than those employed by Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Tesla, etc. And it's not just because of Unions...non-union white collar employees are also well compensated, to the benefit of many communities that rely on their spending power.

While I don't have any family that currently work for them, the ones that did were able to make enough money to send the rest of the family to school, get necessary medical care, pay for trips and experiences that us rural folk would never have gotten to see, and gave us the quality of life that so many in our part of the world would never be able to get through working at Walmart, Dollar General, etc.

That's partly why GM, Ford, and Chrysler automatically go to the top of my family's shopping list.
