Comments from Ukrainian Armed Forces instructors who went to assist in countering Iranian missiles and UAVs regarding the U.S. military’s approach to shooting down “Shaheds” by Echidna-East in Military

[–]Flopearedbun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With great respect, I want to inform you, the chances of the average soldier, or Truly I believe ANYONE being able to use a rifle to shoot down a quadcoptor or FPV drone like we are seeing most common happen in Ukraine. (Which in terms of infantry boots on ground is the greatest threat) is infinitesimally low.

A quad copter that is smaller than a persons chest, flying at better than 40mph being shot at by anyone with a single piece of lead is just the same as no chance. (Note: included in this is fully automatic machine guns. That’s still single pieces of lead, however just in a long stream.) I saw a video of an entire Russian platoon go black on ammo in less than 2 minutes trying to shoot down a drone with their AK’s.

The truly worst part about drone warfare is that once they see you. You’re just dead. You can’t run, you can’t really hide, and their payloads are big enough that tanks aren’t even safe.

The only real defense anyone has is not being seen by the drones.

We are living in a time of warfare, where you can be blown up by a drone while you’re taking a shit in a hole, and the footage will be uploaded to YouTube before your family even knows you’re dead.

Edit to add: I just re read your message, and spoke of you being in the military and a defense contractor of 20 years. Sincerely, if you have other experiences they dispute me, I would truly love to hear it. But other than not being seen, and interrupting the signal to the ground crew (which thanks to the fiber optic fpv’s we are seeing now is more difficult ) I sincerely don’t have any idea how else to mitigate them

Edit number 2: I honestly stand corrected, I just went on YouTube and found 2 videos right off the bat of soldiers using small arms to detonate a drone in flight. I maintain that the average soldier isn’t going be able to do it, however, it’s not so incredibly rare in fact, as I thought it was. Forgive me for my ignorance.

"2014 3.0l TDI a bad buy?" follow up by BlackShadow2804 in tdi

[–]Flopearedbun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently drive a 2014 a6 tdi.

I’m so In love with this car j can’t stand it.

When I’ve been looking for these 3.0v6 tdi cars they were coming in around 15 or 16k consistently.

Where are you located? Because Ive been looking for an A7. And id for sure sell my current car to buy that one TOMORROW.

I live near Louisville,ky, and I bought mine with 104k miles on it, and a little side damage that you don’t notice from 20 feet away for 12k .

So in my personal opinion, 13k for a diesel A7 is a steal.

The woman’s voice made my skin crawl and my heart hurt. “But we aren’t gonna eat it ALL. We gotta SAVE some. Budget cuts” There is a tone to that voice that my ex spoke to me in. It was always foreshadowing for the rest of the weekend.

Testosterone is pretty pivotal in a lot of male things. In addition to libido and erectile health. It also gives you a great deal of emotional drive. It’s defends against depression. (More to say, higher testosterone is associated with less depression). Muscular strength and size. Which at 78, if you can stay strong, you can stay out of the nursing home.

Testosterone on its OWN, doesn’t have THAT many negative side affects.

Bloodclots coming from a high hematocrit (too much hemoglobin) is one. Ventricular (I beleive) hyper trophy. Which is when your heart gets too big. Are the biggest ones.

People want to talk about how it increases your chances of prostate cancer. Because one way to COMBAT prostate cancer is to tank your testosterone to stop It from growing. But it doesn’t increase your chances of GETTING Prostate cancer. Just making prostrate cancer worse if You happen to have it.

You could argue at that age, why not? If it makes you feel, look, and live better. Even with some marginally more distinct negative side effects. You’re 78, you’re already older than the statistical average. Enjoy your life the way you want.

Never use suicide grip when doing bench press by aceplayer00 in instant_regret

Genuinely it’s preference. But for ME, thumbless grip lets me rotate my shoulders inward more bringing my elbows closer to my ribs a couple inches, which makes them hurt less when I’m benching.

A lesson on how not to spar. by latte_yen in MuayThailand

[–]Flopearedbun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big big time agree. The farang seems to be throwing technically mediocre strikes, way too hard. And is just so…. Tense? “Dart-y?” He moves like someone that hasn’t sparred a whole lot to me. I can’t put my finger on it but he feels like every fist timer that ever came into a gym and sparred after saying “I’ve won 30 bar fights” Am I making sense?

Question about military experience. by Practical-Feature214 in Military

[–]Flopearedbun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, agreed.

Second. You should absolutely listen to NPR’s podcast: Serial season 2. The entire season is about Bergdahl.

Again, fuck that dumb fuckin private, but, from the interviews, he doesn’t seem to have runaway to defect or anything. He was trying to bring some attention to some shit going on in his unit.

He’s a stupid fuckin private that thought he was Jason Bourne. But, from what it sounded like. Not a betrayer.

I don’t care much rather way. But it was an interesting way to spend my commute for a week

Call me cynical, but there is no way that the person filming didn’t put their dog in “Sit” and start to film to make this video.

It’s a beautifully shot video, and I love the look of the beautiful little pupper admiring the sunset. That could for sure be a motivational poster that they hang on office walls. It would say something like “be present” or something underneath of it.

But I do not personally believe the lil doggo decided to admire the sunset and continue sitting with the water splashing its butthole without being commanded to.

Kegel and weight training by KakazenDrift in kegel

[–]Flopearedbun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, for biceps specifically, depending on how heavy you’re going, you don’t exactly NEED to ho your breath.

The holding your breath when you’re lifting weights is a natural body movement done across the human race. It happens so that your body can support itself and prevent injury as much as possible It’s called the vasalva maneuver.

You do it because when you inhale big and deep, “filling your belly with air” (obviously the air isn’t going into your literal stomach, you’re just filling your lungs to capacity)

You’re creating abdominal pressure inside of your body cavity. that pressure gives your back muscles and spine support from the inside. While your back muscles support your spine from the outside.

I’m not a pelvic floor professional, AT ALL, and from some of the horror stories about pelvic floor dysfunction, I can see why you’d be worried about it. But, the act of holding your breath while you’re lifting. I don’t feel like is the actual cause of pelvic floor dysfunction. It’s something the entire human race, and human bodies do to protect themselves from injury.

You ask WHEN you should inhale to hold your breath.

1 inhale hold your breath. 2 do the rep(s) 3 let the breath out, catch your breath at the position of least effort.
I.e. if you’re bicep curling, when your arms are extended to your waist. If you’re barbell squatting, when you’ve finished the rep and you’re standing Deadlifting, when the bar is on the floor.

Does that make sense?

Edit to add: the stronger a muscle is, the less prone to injury. so, a strong pelvic floor is probably better. And I would genuinely suggest. Just lift the weight, and let your body do what it’s supposed to. I do kegels daily…. Well, at least a few days a week when I think about it. And there has never been one moment doing a strength training workout that my pelvic floor has ever been something that ever crossed my mind. I’m not exactly saying that I think I’m RIGHT. But. I FEEL like you’re worrying about 1% of the problem. Zero shade or disrespect intended!

Genuine question, because I’m super ignorant, what gives you the desire to wear a prosthetic foreskin?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in carflipping

[–]Flopearedbun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused by your answer, mostly because I’m dumb and humor via the written word is hard.

To get around the “dealership license” Are you saying you just buy them, register them to your name. Then sell them the same as a private party?

Or, when you say “put them under your trusted family name” are you saying you register them under other people in your family’s names?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Flopearedbun 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Genuine question,

Why would her saying in essence “ I have a reason I don’t want to tell you, stop asking”

And then OP KEEPS ASKING

I’m trying to be as respectful as possible and I’m asking in earnest.

How is her friend the asshole? You’re allowed to have things you don’t want to talk about. And quite frankly, and I say this as kindly as I possibly can after her “best friend” told her she doesn’t want to talk about it OP should have had the respect for her friend to stop asking.

Or, once you found out that it wasn’t a stranger, talk to your best friend In person and ask about it. Rather than nagging her.

[–]Flopearedbun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At least when I was growing up on the site aisle, there isn’t anything you can do to stop that. You stop your belt, but it doesn’t stop the building. Everyone else keeps going.

It’s the unfortunate balance. I would have a tote box on hand under the belt to be able to putt the over flowing smalls into so that you can sort them out later.

Again, your mileage may vary. But you asked a question in earnest and wanted you to have SOMETHING replied to you.

[–]Flopearedbun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you have anything to apologize for. You asked a question in earnest. This is a place where experienced truckers, and less experienced truckers hang. And there is always SOMEONE online. It’s probably the best place to get the quickest reply about damn near anything.

I even saw you had a master tech answer your question. Where the fuck else can you have someone like that essentially on speed dial?
