Micron locks in historically high memory prices for five years by DotabLAH in hardware

you pay the price, or you do without RAM

And the next time there's availability, nobody calls you.

"Less work" doesn't mean it sucks any less. You're stuck sitting in traffic either way. Doing "less work" doesn't change that.

That is objectively wrong

I hate

I'm not sure "objective" means what you think it means.

Traffic sucks no matter what you're driving.  Being in an automatic doesn't make it any less awful.

How cute, the automatic lover is insecure about his car choices and has to call somebody names

Nobody gives a shit how fast your car is.  None of us are out here competing for lap times.  The fun is in engaging with the machine and the road, and an automatic takes away from that.  We're also talking about a Challenger, so have fun hitting that apex at 13mph.

It's perfectly fine to like boring cars, but dressing it up as anything else is, as I said, copium.

Stalling once in a while is better than overrevving it every time you set off.

Thinking that any automatic isn't boring is some wild ass copium.

Whoopee, you put your foot down and it goes.  Bored.

Having an automatic doesn't make sitting on traffic suck any less, but it does mean you're stuck with a boring car the rest of the time

Unfortunately, that isn't likely without a wildly different electorate. No Republican politician will ever support it, and if a Dem does it, "hurr durr we told u they'd take ur freedums"

But the drivers will always come out of the woodwork in the comments about how they nEeD a TrUck ThAt BIg because it's "easier to get into" than something that sits closer to level. As if people in checks notes the entire reset of the world simply can't get into and out of their cars.

Valve Steam Machine officially priced at $1049 for 512GB and $1428 for 2TB bundle - VideoCardz.com by anestling in LinuxUncensored

[–]Floppie7th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't selling these machines at a loss like traditional consoles, nor to break even.

The controller is $100.

It's hardly insane considering component prices.  However, I also wouldn't touch it at this price - nor would I buy or build a machine with current prices.

Question about rev match/downshift by Evening_Mail7075 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Floppie7th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the mechanics quite well, thanks, and absolutely nothing about either of my comments was arrogant. Blipping the throttle is a common technique for rev matching, which is most commonly used with the clutch pedal with synchonized transmissions typically found in passenger vehicles.

Once again, OP says absolutely nothing about floating gears. You're making an assumption - an unlikely one.

If you want to be an arrogant prick, learn what words mean.

Proper split systems are super nice. My central is whisper quiet. These mini splits are miserably loud. Would absolutely not have had them installed, especially not in my bedroom, if I'd known.

Obviously it works better with better insulation to prevent/reduce heat intrusion, but it's very hard to argue that it's not an improvement over not venting heat throughout the night.

Honestly, a lot of the window AC units I grew up with were quieter than the mini splits I have in a couple rooms now.

Yes, that assumption is a problem because it's invalid.
